Shale's Jewelry first opened its doors in 1959 in Los Angeles, California. Benchavan's husband, Lee Shale followed in the footsteps of his father Sol Shalevetz. He was a well-known diamond dealer and mineral collector. With a long standing reputation in the jewelry industry, Lee has serviced his customers with outstanding integrity, honesty and humor for many years.

Benchavan Shale began her entrepreneurship importing fine jewelry from her native Thailand. She joined her husband Lee in 1977 and developed her passion for creating one of a kind, semi-precious stone necklaces that have been purchased by many celebrities over the years. Hand knotted on silk, her designs are a delicate fusion of Asian art and Hollywood elegance.
