Announcement    Paw prints, dog bones, cat silhouettes, rings, bracelets, necklaces and more in sterling silver, pewter and stainless steel!!

People are often asking, "Where did the name Sleeping Bear come from?". Well, Bear was a very special pug adopted by me, Erin Stelmach, the owner of the company and my husband Michael. Bear was assumed to be about 8 or 10 years old at that time. He seemed so happy to have someone to love him, and his favorite thing was to curl up next to either one of us and snooze. As our little old man slept, I would create designs of dogs and cats and then put them into jewelry. To honor how much happpiness Bear gave to me, I started volunteering at a local animal shelter.
When the shelter needed to raise money, they decided to do an auction. I combined my years of working in the jewelry industry and my love for animals and went to work making a paw print necklace for the auction. The necklace looked so great and helped raised money for the shelter. I realized then that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Things have just grown from there!

Keeping in the spirit of how and why things all got started, a portion of every sale is donated to pet charity organizations.

Over the past year, The Sleeping Bear Co. has donated to a variety of animal rescue organizations, including but not limited to: Pug Rescue of New England, Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England, Little Paws Big Hearts Pekingese Rescue, German Shepherd Rescue of New England, Save A Dog, Second Chance Fund For Animal Welfare, Guardian Angels Cat Rescue, The Boxer Rescue, PittieLove Rescue, Long Island Bulldog Rescue and The Buddy Dog Humane Society.

I currently have no appearances or events planned while I am hard at work on some great new designs and restocking old favorites!
