Mi chiamo Sennur. Come famiglia, ci siamo trasferiti in Virginia, negli Stati Uniti, per gli studi di dottorato di mio marito (Ender) nel 2010. Ero noioso in un nuovo paese e avevamo anche bisogno di soldi per sopravvivere lì. A quel tempo, ho sentito Etsy, il mercato più globale per beni unici e creativi, da un cittadino statunitense (grazie a lei). È stata un'occasione per trasformare il mio hobby (maglieria e uncinetto) in un business di successo. Così, io con mio marito, Ender, abbiamo iniziato il nostro primo negozio (sennursasa – negozio di maglieria e uncinetto) nel 2010.
All'inizio, non ho molte vendite. Quindi, stavo cercando alcuni modi per sviluppare il nostro negozio. Nel giugno 2011, ho aperto il mio secondo negozio (susamsupplies) per vendere alcune forniture artigianali per i talentuosi venditori di Etsy. Ma non era abbastanza per sopravvivere negli Stati Uniti.
Un giorno, mia sorella gemella, Aynur, mi ha offerto di aprire un negozio Etsy per vendere alcune sciarpe vintage che aveva già avuto. La sua idea era eccellente, perché avremmo portato lo stile vintage dell'est (sciarpa tradizionale turca, yemenita) e dell'ovest (sciarpe dei designer) insieme in un negozio. Così, abbiamo aperto questo negozio nel gennaio 2012. Più tardi, siamo tornati nel mio paese, la Turchia, nell'agosto 2012 e abbiamo migliorato le nostre scorte con alcuni altri accessori e abbigliamento per donne che abbiamo creato.
Ora, in questo negozio, vendiamo ciò che progettiamo e creiamo come alcune borse in stile etnico (kilim / tappeto / tappeto), borse, pochette, sacchetti, federe e sottobicchieri. Siamo felici, perché facciamo ciò che amiamo: lavorare a maglia, all'uncinetto, cucire.

My name is Sennur. As a family, we moved to Virginia, US for my husband’s (Ender) PhD studies in 2010. I was boring in a new country and also we needed some money to survive there. At that time, I have heard Etsy, the most global marketplace for unique and creative goods, from a US citizen (thanks to her). It was a chance to turn my hobby (knit and crochet) into a successful business. So, I with my husband, Ender, have started our first shop (sennursasa – knit and crochet shop) in 2010.
In the beginning, I do not have many sales. Thus, I was looking some ways to develop our shop. In June 2011, I have opened my second shop (susamsupplies) to sell some craft supplies for the talented Etsy sellers. But, it was not enough to survive in US.
One day, my twin sister, Aynur, offered me to open an Etsy shop to sell some vintage scarves that she had already had. Her idea was excellent, because we would bring the vintage style of east (Turkish traditional scarf, Yemeni) and west (designers’ scarves) together in a shop. Thus, we opened this shop in January 2012. Later, we came back to my country, Turkey, in August 2012 and enhanced our stocks with some other women accessories and apparel that we created.
Now, in this shop, we sell what we design and create such as some ethnic style (kilim / rug / carpet) bags, purses, clutches, pouches, pillow cases and coasters. We are happy, because we do what we love – knit, crochet, sewing.
