Stress less, embroider more!

Welcome to Sol Threads!

After going through every craft imaginable as a child, my Great Aunty Norma taught me to embroider when I was 14 years old, and I haven't looked back since! After a day of staring at a computer screen at uni or work, I've always loved being able to switch off and do something with my hands.

In the past few months I've been focusing on making embroidery accessible to people of all skill levels. I focus on bright colours, simple shapes and a good dose of old-fashioned Australiana. There are a range of kits to suit different tastes and different goals!

What's the story behind the name 'Sol Threads'?

Raised in tropical North Queensland, Australia, I spent my gap year on Rotary Exchange in the happiest country in the world, Denmark, and learnt a lot about 'hygge', proper winter clothes and Danish pastry. While in Denmark I began to learn Spanish from the many Latin American exchange students there. On my return Australia, the Danish Club of Brisbane took me under their wing while I continued to study Spanish at uni.

Fast forward 5 years, back in Australia after a year spent in Valencia, Spain, I was ready to start taking embroidery seriously and looking for a name. So what could the Danish and Spanish languages possibly have in common? They both happen share the same word for sun: sol!

In this way, the name Sol Threads is a bit of a tribute to all the places I call home and the people who've helped me on the journey.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope my hoops bring a little extra sunshine into your life like they have for me!
