I seem to be creating constantly! If not seated at the computer designing graphics and publication layouts, I'm creating with stones, pearls, beads and wire.
It's a way of life for me. My mother was my role model. She crafted flowers, sewed our clothing, and prepared our foods. I watched her intently, so it came natural for me to pick up crayons, scissors, scraps of cloth, blocks of wood, whatever I could find, and spend hours creating.
Today I professionally design computer generated layouts for businesses ... magazines, brochures, newsletters, corporate identities, etc. But crafting remains my lifelong friend.
Thirty years ago I designed my first jewelry. Working with tiny pieces of silver, gold, pearls and semiprecious stones was fascinating. I have returned to this craft and find it just as stimulating and rewarding as I discovered it to be years ago ... I guess you never travel too far from your passions.
I hope you enjoy these jewelry creations as much as I find pleasure and pride in creating them! My father, a custom home craftsman, used to say, "If you make something, you might as well do it right the first time." He took pride in his work, and people sought him to work on their projects long after his retirement. This is my goal: to do good work that honors the talents of which I have been blessed.
I thank God for my mom and dad ... I pray I can live up to this rich heritage and be a proud artisan in all my works and deeds.
