It is no surprise that I would open a jewelry "shop" given it was a goal of mine when my husband and I moved to Savannah from the Boston area.
I love, color, texture, design, the mechanics of how things are made. Jewelry design is infinite so all creations are unique. And the more unique the findings, the happier I am to use them...especially vintage materials to upcycle as etsy calls recycling. I upcycle vintage and antique jewelry to create a more modern use and look. Often I combine vintage and modern beads.
I recently began a new art form called nuno felting where merino wool in my case is encouraged to migrate into silk scarves creating a new wearable fabric. It is a multi-step process that is time-consuming using water, soap, rubbing, and rolling up to 1000 times. It takes anywhere from 3-6 hours to accomplish the end product. Beautiful, ethereal, lightweight, warm when it needs to be and can easily replace a sweater on a cool evening.
