I was looking for a word that will show how I feel about Israel, how I live, what I see and what I do here... and I found this word. It's "Pardes".
Hebrew "Pardes" comes from Persian "Firdaus" and has the same root with english "Paradise" - Garden of Eden.
In Israel "Pardes" is the name for citrus or pomegranate orchards, which are very common here. Since ancient times pomegranate is a symbol of fertility, marriage and prosperity.
Some Torah researchers suggested the fruit that Eve gave to Adam was not from an apple but from a pomegranate tree. Among Israeli and Persian people pomegranate was considered the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Pardes jewelery are all simple shapes and play of colors. They are made from cold clay with "print" technology and toned with antique gold. I love and I use the calm colors of Israel nature: olive, terracotta, sand, blue and turquoise.
There is a special line of vintage jewelery in Pardes, and every peace of it is unique. I use the elements of old brooches, earrings and pendants from the middle of 20th century, that I hunt for on the flea markets, not only in Israel but all around the world. This bijou is so romantic and tender. It'll fit your best party dress or casual clothes.
I'll be happy to share with you the fruits from my garden:)
