Where it all started...
Let me introduce myself, Hi I'm Kate, and I'm addicted to furniture rehab and I love it!!
I grew up playing in a little town known as Gary, Indiana, and while my parents decided to move from Gary to a home in Hobart, Indiana about 6 miles away, my grandparents continued to live in Gary throughout most of my life. It took a tragedy in our lives, but, my Grandmother finally moved to the town of Hobart as well.
I went on to study interior design and then photography. OVERSHARE time, as a child I developed this strange emotional connection with abandonment, and with my photography an obsession with photographing the relationship between me and what might not be tomorrow. This translated so well into my furniture business, what better way to embrace this connection and express myself then to give new life to old abandoned furniture.
This all started as a hobby after I was laid off from 12 years in the corporate world and I just couldn't stop so, I started Altered State. I enjoy giving furniture new life through design and custom painting techniques.
When I started working on pieces, I thought you know, who doesn't love a new piece of furniture? We all know the right piece can tie our whole room together, undoubtedly, the key to our whole interior.

5 out of 5 starsGorgeous Armoire and really cool refinishing. In addition, Kate was AWESOME to work with. She was very responsive, gave me lots of information and was really helpful. I've never received a custom piece of furniture from out of town and she made the process very easy. I would totally buy something of hers again!

Do you offer custom work?
Yes, we offer custom work. We would love to find and finish your prefect piece. Contact us directly to inquire.
The piece I want sold, what do I do?
Refer to custom work, we can always find a similar piece to finish just for you.
Do the items come assembled?
This can go both ways, we package items for best possible transport. We will advise prior to shipping if the item needs assembly.
How do I get a shipping quote?
Shipping quotes are done on an individual bases. We ask that you contact us directly with your zip code to begin the quote process.
NOTE: If you can accept the shipment at a business loading dock or have access to a fork lift this could reduce the cost of shipping.
What is included in the shipment?
Each item we sell will be boxed, crated or wrapped for protection during transport. Shipping quotes include lift gate service at your location.

I live local, do you deliver?
Yes, we offer local delivery within two hours of our location. There is an added charge for this service. Please contact us directly to get a delivery quote.
How long will shipping take, what if there is damage?
Depending on location, weather and holidays shipments can typically take 2-10 from the date it leaves my dock. Altered State LLC is not responsible for in-transit damage. Please look over the piece upon arrival and note any damage to the shipping company otherwise you will not be able to file a claim with them.
