Ich bin Antonia... der Gründer von BumpyCrafts und BumpyYarn.

Wir sind gerade in unser Heimatland Großbritannien zurückgekehrt und haben jetzt Glück und freuen uns, in Worthing zu leben.

Alles begann vor 9 Jahren, ich verließ mein Zuhause in Großbritannien und zog mit meinem Mann und damals meinen 12-jährigen Drillingen nach Deutschland. Obwohl wir aufgeregt waren, unser neues Leben zu beginnen, mussten wir uns im Laufe der Jahre einigen Herausforderungen stellen, ohne dass Familie oder Freunde uns unterstützen konnten.

Diese Herausforderungen verursachten viel Stress für mich, aber ich stellte fest, dass mein früheres Hobby des Strickens und Häkelns mir half, meine Angst, mein Glück und meine Stimmung zu regulieren.

Es gibt eine nachgewiesene Verbindung zwischen Stricken und Häkeln und Ruhe und Glücklichsein, und der soziale Aspekt von Garnhobbys hilft auch meiner psychischen Gesundheit, indem ich mich mit anderen Garnenthusiasten treffe oder in sozialen Medien chatte und meine neuesten Projekte teilte

Als ich mehr tat, stellte ich fest, dass ich unorganisiert wurde und mir wurde klar, dass ich eine Projekttasche brauchte, die nicht nur mein Projekt speichern, sondern auch alle meine Extras organisieren würde ... Maßband, Muster, Schere, Begriffe usw. Ich hatte das Gefühl, wenn mein Projekt richtig untergebracht wäre, dann hätte ich einen organisierteren Verstand.

Aber obwohl ich überall gesucht habe, konnte ich nicht die perfekte Projekttasche finden ... Also habe ich meine eigene erstellt. Dann dachte ich, vielleicht würden andere Leute auch einen wollen und das war, als BumpyCrafts geboren wurde.

Ich arbeite mit meinem Kumpel Snowy, unserem Westiepoo-Hündchen! Sie ist immer bei mir, wenn ich arbeite, und leistet mir Gesellschaft. Normalerweise wird sie an meinen Füßen liegen und schlafen, aber gelegentlich wird sie mein Bein mit ihrer Nase stoßen, also weiß ich, dass sie etwas will, daher ihr Spitzname Bumpy ... und der Name des Unternehmens!

Ich liebe es, ein neues Projekt zu beginnen, und ich stelle sicher, dass jedes Projekt, an dem ich arbeite, eine bestimmte Tasche hat, damit ich es und mich selbst organisieren kann (und es hält mich davon ab, auf einer Schere zu knien, das ist eine sehr reale Sache!) Ich weiß, dass viele von euch das Gleiche fühlen und deshalb kreiere ich viele verschiedene Stile und Größen.

Ich beschloss, BumpyYarn zu gründen, als ich mein erstes handgefärbtes Garn kaufte. Die Farben, die Einzigartigkeit und Weichheit des Garns haben mich süchtig gemacht! Luxuriöses handgefärbtes Garn ist ein wahrer Genuss. Es ist eine wunderbare Investition, Qualitätsgarn zu kaufen. Wenn ich etwas verschenke, das ich gemacht habe, weiß ich, dass der Empfänger die Weichheit und Qualität des Garns spüren wird und dass es halten wird.

Die Verwendung von qualitativ hochwertigen, natürlichen Garnen aus der Region, die eine erneuerbare Quelle sind, und die Verwendung von Baumwolle für meine Projekttaschen, die biologisch abbaubar ist, hilft der Umwelt. Das ist mir wichtig. Was wir heute tun, kleine Schritte, wird einen positiven Unterschied beim Schutz unserer Umwelt für unsere Kinder und der Zukunft des Planeten machen!

Ich färbe BumpyYarns gerne mit einem Thema im Hinterkopf, inspiriert von der Welt um mich herum oder einer Erinnerung oder einem Lieblingsfilm oder einer Lieblingsfernsehsendung. Manchmal kann es ein Name sein, der eine einzigartige Farbweise auslöst. Ich habe Kunst und Modedesign am College studiert und weiß, dass meine Liebe zur Kunst eine wichtige Rolle bei der Farbauswahl spielt, die ich treffe. Die Freude, die es mir bringt, die Garne zu kreieren, spiegelt sich hoffentlich im fertigen Produkt wider. BumpyYarn ist keine Massenproduktion, es wird mit Liebe in kleinem Maßstab hergestellt.

Ich habe angefangen, Strickmuster zu entwerfen. Dies ist ein herausforderndes kreatives Ventil für mich, es bringt mein Gehirn wirklich zum Laufen! Alle Muster werden gründlich getestet.

Ein weiterer Aspekt des Geschäfts, der mir wichtig ist, ist die Inklusivität. Garnhobbys unterscheiden nicht, wir alle können von der Entspannung und Freude profitieren, die sie bringen. Ich möchte, dass BumpyCrafts ein einladender, integrativer Ort ist, an dem Menschen einkaufen können, da sie wissen, dass sie einen Kauf für sich selbst tätigen, der ihnen mit dem täglichen Stress des Lebens helfen wird.

Ich habe eine Kollektion in meinem Shop für PRIDE. Ein Prozentsatz des Umsatzes aus dieser Kollektion fließt in die Unterstützung der psychischen Gesundheit in der LGBTQ + -Community. Dies ist ein wichtiger Teil meines Geschäfts, wir alle haben das Recht zu wählen, wen wir lieben. I’m Antonia…the founder of BumpyCrafts and BumpyYarn.

We have just relocated back to our home Country, UK and are now lucky and excited to be living in Worthing.

It all started 9 years ago, I left my home in the UK and moved to Germany with my husband and, at the time, my 12 year-old triplets. Although we were excited to start our new life, over the years, we have had to face some challenges without family or friends to support us.

These challenges created a lot of stress for me, but I found that my previous hobby of knitting and crochet helped me regulate my anxiety, happiness and mood.

There is a proven connection between knitting and crocheting and being calm and happy, plus the social aspect of yarn hobbies also helps my mental health by meeting up with other yarn enthusiasts or chatting on social media and sharing my latest projects

As I did more, I found I was getting disorganised and I realised I needed a project bag that would not only store my project, but would also organise all my extras… tape measure, pattern, scissors, notions etc. I felt that if my project was housed properly, then I would have a more organised mind.

But despite looking all over the place, I couldn’t find that perfect project bag…so I created my own. Then I thought maybe other people would want one too and that is when BumpyCrafts was born.

I work with my sidekick Snowy, our Westiepoo pooch! She is always with me when I am crafting, keeping me company. Normally, she will lie by my feet sleeping, but on occasion she will bump my leg with her nose, so I know she wants something, hence her nickname Bumpy…and the name of the company!

I love starting a new project and I make sure each one I’m working on has a specific bag, so that I can get it and myself organised, (plus it stops me kneeling on scissors, this is a very real thing!) I know many of you feel the same and that’s why I create lots of different styles and sizes.

I decided to start BumpyYarn when I purchased my first hand-dyed yarn. The colours, uniqueness and softness of the yarn, got me hooked! Luxury hand-dyed yarn is a real treat. It is a wonderful investment to purchase quality yarn. When I gift something I have made, I know the recipient will feel the softness and quality of the yarn and that it will last.

Using good quality, locally sourced natural yarns which are a renewable source and using cotton for my project bags, which is biodegradable, helps the environment. This is important to me. What we do today, taking small steps, will make a positive difference in protecting our environment for our children and the planet´s future!

I like to dye BumpyYarns with a theme in mind, taking inspiration from the world around me, or a memory or favourite movie or tv show. Sometimes it can be a name that triggers a unique colour way. I studied art and fashion design at college, and I know that my love of art plays an important role in the colour choices I make. The joy it brings me creating the yarns, I hope reflects in the finished product. BumpyYarn is not mass produced, it is created with love on a small scale.

I have started to design knitting patterns. This is a challenging creative outlet for me, it really gets my brain working! All patterns are thoroughly tested.

Another aspect of the business that is important to me is inclusivity. Yarn hobbies do not discriminate, we can all benefit from the relaxation and joy they bring. I want BumpyCrafts to be a welcoming inclusive place people can shop, knowing they are making a purchase for themselves that will help them with the daily stresses of life.

I have a collection in my shop for PRIDE. A percentage of sales from this collection goes to support mental health in the LGBTQ+ community.
