Ciao!

Sono Antonia... il fondatore di BumpyCrafts e BumpyYarn.

Ci siamo appena trasferiti nel nostro paese d'origine, il Regno Unito e ora siamo fortunati ed entusiasti di vivere a Worthing.

Tutto è iniziato 9 anni fa, ho lasciato la mia casa nel Regno Unito e mi sono trasferita in Germania con mio marito e, all'epoca, le mie terzine di 12 anni. Anche se eravamo entusiasti di iniziare la nostra nuova vita, nel corso degli anni, abbiamo dovuto affrontare alcune sfide senza familiari o amici che ci supportassero.

Queste sfide mi hanno creato molto stress, ma ho scoperto che il mio precedente hobby di lavorare a maglia e all'uncinetto mi ha aiutato a regolare la mia ansia, felicità e umore.

C'è una comprovata connessione tra maglieria e uncinetto ed essere calmi e felici, oltre all'aspetto sociale degli hobby del filato aiuta anche la mia salute mentale incontrando altri appassionati di filati o chattando sui social media e condividendo i miei ultimi progetti

Mentre facevo di più, ho scoperto che mi stavo disorganizzando e mi sono reso conto che avevo bisogno di una borsa per progetti che non solo memorizzasse il mio progetto, ma organizzasse anche tutti i miei extra ... metro a nastro, modello, forbici, nozioni ecc. Sentivo che se il mio progetto fosse stato ospitato correttamente, allora avrei avuto una mente più organizzata.

Ma nonostante abbia guardato dappertutto, non sono riuscito a trovare quella borsa da progetto perfetta... così ho creato il mio. Poi ho pensato che forse anche altre persone ne avrebbero voluto uno ed è allora che è nato BumpyCrafts.

Lavoro con il mio aiutante Snowy, il nostro cane Westiepoo! Lei è sempre con me quando sto creando, tenendomi compagnia. Normalmente, si sdraierà vicino ai miei piedi dormendo, ma a volte mi urterà la gamba con il naso, quindi so che vuole qualcosa, da qui il suo soprannome Bumpy ... e il nome dell'azienda!

Adoro iniziare un nuovo progetto e mi assicuro che ognuno su cui sto lavorando abbia una borsa specifica, in modo da poterlo organizzare e organizzare me stesso, (in più mi impedisce di inginocchiarmi sulle forbici, questa è una cosa molto reale!) So che molti di voi la pensano allo stesso modo ed è per questo che creo molti stili e dimensioni diverse.

Ho deciso di iniziare BumpyYarn quando ho acquistato il mio primo filato tinto a mano. I colori, l'unicità e la morbidezza del filato, mi hanno conquistato! Il filato di lusso tinto a mano è una vera delizia. È un investimento meraviglioso acquistare filati di qualità. Quando regalo qualcosa che ho fatto, so che il destinatario sentirà la morbidezza e la qualità del filato e che durerà.

L'utilizzo di filati naturali di buona qualità di provenienza locale che sono una fonte rinnovabile e l'utilizzo di cotone per le borse del mio progetto, che è biodegradabile, aiuta l'ambiente. Questo è importante per me. Quello che facciamo oggi, facendo piccoli passi, farà una differenza positiva nel proteggere il nostro ambiente per i nostri figli e il futuro del pianeta!

Mi piace tingere BumpyYarns con un tema in mente, prendendo ispirazione dal mondo che mi circonda, o da un ricordo o da un film o programma televisivo preferito. A volte può essere un nome che innesca un modo di colore unico. Ho studiato arte e fashion design al college e so che il mio amore per l'arte gioca un ruolo importante nelle scelte cromatiche che faccio. La gioia che mi porta creando i filati, spero si rifletta nel prodotto finito. BumpyYarn non è prodotto in serie, è creato con amore su piccola scala.

Ho iniziato a disegnare modelli di maglieria. Questo è uno sbocco creativo stimolante per me, mi fa davvero funzionare il cervello! Tutti i modelli sono accuratamente testati.

Un altro aspetto del business che è importante per me è l'inclusività. Gli hobby del filato non discriminano, tutti possiamo beneficiare del relax e della gioia che portano. Voglio che BumpyCrafts sia un luogo accogliente e inclusivo in cui le persone possono fare acquisti, sapendo che stanno facendo un acquisto per se stessi che li aiuterà con lo stress quotidiano della vita.

Ho una collezione nel mio negozio per PRIDE. Una percentuale delle vendite di questa collezione va a sostenere la salute mentale nella comunità LGBTQ +. Questa è una parte importante della mia attività, tutti abbiamo il diritto di scegliere chi amiamo. Spero che apprezzerete i filati, le borse di progetto e gli accessori che realizzo per questa collezione.

I’m Antonia…the founder of BumpyCrafts and BumpyYarn.

We have just relocated back to our home Country, UK and are now lucky and excited to be living in Worthing.

It all started 9 years ago, I left my home in the UK and moved to Germany with my husband and, at the time, my 12 year-old triplets. Although we were excited to start our new life, over the years, we have had to face some challenges without family or friends to support us.

These challenges created a lot of stress for me, but I found that my previous hobby of knitting and crochet helped me regulate my anxiety, happiness and mood.

There is a proven connection between knitting and crocheting and being calm and happy, plus the social aspect of yarn hobbies also helps my mental health by meeting up with other yarn enthusiasts or chatting on social media and sharing my latest projects

As I did more, I found I was getting disorganised and I realised I needed a project bag that would not only store my project, but would also organise all my extras… tape measure, pattern, scissors, notions etc. I felt that if my project was housed properly, then I would have a more organised mind.

But despite looking all over the place, I couldn’t find that perfect project bag…so I created my own. Then I thought maybe other people would want one too and that is when BumpyCrafts was born.

I work with my sidekick Snowy, our Westiepoo pooch! She is always with me when I am crafting, keeping me company. Normally, she will lie by my feet sleeping, but on occasion she will bump my leg with her nose, so I know she wants something, hence her nickname Bumpy…and the name of the company!

I love starting a new project and I make sure each one I’m working on has a specific bag, so that I can get it and myself organised, (plus it stops me kneeling on scissors, this is a very real thing!) I know many of you feel the same and that’s why I create lots of different styles and sizes.

I decided to start BumpyYarn when I purchased my first hand-dyed yarn. The colours, uniqueness and softness of the yarn, got me hooked! Luxury hand-dyed yarn is a real treat. It is a wonderful investment to purchase quality yarn. When I gift something I have made, I know the recipient will feel the softness and quality of the yarn and that it will last.

Using good quality, locally sourced natural yarns which are a renewable source and using cotton for my project bags, which is biodegradable, helps the environment. This is important to me. What we do today, taking small steps, will make a positive difference in protecting our environment for our children and the planet´s future!

I like to dye BumpyYarns with a theme in mind, taking inspiration from the world around me, or a memory or favourite movie or tv show. Sometimes it can be a name that triggers a unique colour way. I studied art and fashion design at college, and I know that my love of art plays an important role in the colour choices I make. The joy it brings me creating the yarns, I hope reflects in the finished product. BumpyYarn is not mass produced, it is created with love on a small scale.

I have started to design knitting patterns. This is a challenging creative outlet for me, it really gets my brain working! All patterns are thoroughly tested.

Another aspect of the business that is important to me is inclusivity. Yarn hobbies do not discriminate, we can all benefit from the relaxation and joy they bring. I want BumpyCrafts to be a welcoming inclusive place people can shop, knowing they are making a purchase for themselves that will help them with the daily stresses of life.

I have a collection in my shop for PRIDE. A percentage of sales from this collection goes to support mental health in the LGBTQ+ community. This is an important part of my business, we all have a right to choose who we love. I hope you will enjoy the yarns, project bags and accessories I make for this collection.
