Bem-vindo ao But First, Crochet. Sou Jessica, a dona e criadora de tudo que encontrará na minha loninha. Meus principais amores são projetar cobertores de bebê e fazer brinquedos preemie. Eu me concentro com polvo de crochê que comprovadamente melhora a saúde dos bebês na UTI Neonatal.
Em 2018 dei à luz trigêmeos prematuros (2 meninas e um menino). Meu menor pesava pouco menos de 1kg. Meus bebês passaram cerca de um mês na UTI e esses são dias que estão enraizados na minha memória para sempre. Alguns são memórias de amor outros de medo, excitação, raiva, ansiedade, alegria...... todas as sensações.
Desde que os trigêmeos voltaram para casa, combinei minha paixão por crochê com a defesa e ajuda de prematuros e suas famílias. Estou ativo com a March of Dimes e estou além de apaixonado por crochê polvos para prematuros.
As "espirais" dos tentáculos proporcionam conforto aos prematuros e recém-nascidos que chamam a UTI Neonatal de lar. A forma espiral os lembra de seu cordão umbilical e flutuando no útero. Os tentáculos proporcionam conforto e ajudam a evitar que os bebês na UTI retirem seus tubos de oxigênio, puxando seus fios e pistas. Ajuda a mantê-los confortáveis e pode até aumentar seus níveis de oxigênio!
Eu faço crochê tudo que eu mesmo seguindo as diretrizes da UTI e levo a segurança e limpeza na maior consideração ao criar meus itens.

Welcome to But First, Crochet. I'm Jessica, the owner and maker of everything you will find in my little shop. My main loves are designing baby blankets and making preemie toys. I mailnly focus on crocheted octopus which are proven to improve the health of babies in the NICU.
In 2018 I gave birth to preemie triplets (2 girls and a boy). My littlest weighed in just under 3lbs. My babies spent roughly a month in the NICU and those are days that are ingrained in my memory forever. Some are memories of love others of fear, excitement, anger, anxiety, joy.... all the feels.
Since the triplets came home I've combined my passion for crochet with advocating and helping preemies and their families. I'm active with the March of Dimes and I am beyond passionate about crocheting octopuses for preemies.
The "spirals" of the tentacles provide comfort to preemies and newborns that call the NICU their home. The spiral shape reminds them of their umbilical cord and floating around in the womb. The tentacles provide comfort and help prevent babies in the NICU from pulling out their oxygen tubes, tugging on their wires and leads. It helps keep them comfortable and can even raise their oxygen levels!
I crochet everything myself following NICU guidelines and take safety and cleanliness in the highest regard when creating my items.
