Where hippie meets hiking
It all started with a group of friends making tie dye's for fun in our backyard. We were hitting music festivals most weekends, camping others and experimenting with tie dyes after work during the week. After a couple years of experimenting I branched out on my own, creating one of a kind pieces and selling them to friends on social media or vending at local parties. In 2018 I quit my job to hike the first 700 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail where I had the idea to somehow incorporate tie dye with hiking/outdoorsy apparel. Cotton is deemed unsafe in most hiking conditions with synthetics and merino wool dominating most of the market. Unfortunately, synthetics cannot be dyed with fiber reactive colors which left me stumped for quite some time. Eventually I stumbled upon bamboo/viscose fibers which are able to be dyed! Better yet, I found blank sun hoodies rated UPF 50 that were made primarily out of bamboo. It was here that I felt like I finally found my niche in the tie dye community! While I still make plenty of cotton textiles to wear for fun or festivals, the UPF tie dye hiking hoodie is where my true passion lies. I can't wait to see people get outside, protected from the sun and the elements, while sporting a plethora of rad color combinations!
