I learned BaZi from my grandmother's kitchen table. 15 years later, I'm still reading charts.
Crecí viendo a mi abuela leer cartas BaZi a los vecinos en un pequeño callejón de Datong, Taipéi. No tenía ni idea de lo que hacía; solo notaba que todos los que salían de su casa parecían un poco más tranquilos. No porque les dijera que todo estaría bien, sino porque les decía: «Ahora lo saben, así que ahora pueden afrontarlo».
En aquel entonces no me interesaba el BaZi. Me mudé a Estados Unidos a los 18 años para estudiar diseño gráfico, pasé seis años allí, regresé a Taipéi y me labré una carrera en el ámbito creativo. La vida me sonreía, hasta que cumplí treinta y tantos, cuando varias cosas se desmoronaron a la vez. Volví a casa de mi abuela y ella me leyó la carta astral. Por primera vez, le presté atención.
Lo que me dijo no fue nada agradable. Me explicó que mi carta astral tenía una especie de tensión interna que me dificultaría la vida. Pero también me dijo que esa tensión era la fuente de mi creatividad y de mi capacidad para comprender a la gente de una manera que la mayoría no puede. Ese día no me sentí mejor, pero sí con la mente más despejada. Y, al final, resultó que esa claridad fue lo que realmente me ayudó.
Después de eso, comencé a estudiar BaZi en serio. Pasé cinco años con un maestro en Taipéi y luego años practicando por mi cuenta. Llevo más de 15 años dedicándome a esto.
Esto es lo que creo: el BaZi no es adivinación. Es un sistema —muy antiguo y sofisticado— que describe tu naturaleza y cuándo es probable que se produzcan cambios. No predigo tu futuro. Te muestro tus patrones, tu momento oportuno y tus opciones. En un lenguaje sencillo, sin jerga astrológica.
Cada lectura que envío es revisada personalmente y redactada teniendo en cuenta tu carta astral específica. Nada de plantillas copiadas y pegadas, ni horóscopos genéricos. Requiere tiempo, pero esa es la clave: tu carta astral es única, por lo que tu lectura también debería serlo.
Trabajo con mi pareja, dos gatos llamados Jia y Bing (甲 y 丙; sí, sus nombres provienen de los tallos de Madera y Fuego que faltan en mi carta astral), y más té del que una sola persona debería tener.

I grew up watching my grandmother read BaZi charts for neighbors in a small alley in Datong, Taipei. I had no idea what she was doing -- I just noticed that everyone who walked out of her house looked a little lighter. Not because she told them everything would be fine. Because she told them: now you know, so now you can deal with it.
I didn't care about BaZi back then. I moved to the US at 18 to study graphic design, spent six years there, came back to Taipei, built a career in creative work. Life was good -- until my early 30s, when a few things fell apart at the same time. I went back to my grandmother and she read my chart. For the first time, I actually listened.
What she told me wasn't sweet. She said my chart had a kind of internal tension that would make life never quite easy. But she also said that tension was the source of my creativity and my ability to understand people in ways most people can't. I didn't feel better that day -- but I felt clearer. And clarity, it turned out, was what actually helped.
I started studying BaZi seriously after that. Five years with a master in Taipei, then years of practice on my own. I've been doing this for over 15 years now.
Here's what I believe: BaZi isn't fortune-telling. It's a system -- a really old, really sophisticated one -- that maps how you're wired and when things are likely to shift. I don't predict your future. I show you your patterns, your timing, and your options. In plain language, not astrology jargon.
