La artista Jen Smith, residente en el oeste de Massachusetts, ha estado perfeccionando sus habilidades como diseñadora y creadora de joyas fotográficas durante los últimos años. Inicialmente explorando la fotografía mientras asistía a Pratt en Brooklyn, el enfoque de Jen cambió después de tener la oportunidad de trabajar con las artistas joyeras Gabriella Kiss y Jessica Rose. Con educación en fotografía y experiencia laboral con joyeros, Jen creó sus primeras piezas de joyería usando imágenes de sus hojas de contactos fotográficos respaldadas en arcilla para hacer aretes, colgantes y pulseras. Western Massachusetts-based artist Jen Smith has been honing her skills as a photo jewelry designer and maker for the last several years. Initially exploring photography while attending Pratt in Brooklyn, Jen’s focus shifted after an opportunity to work with jewelry artists Gabriella Kiss and Jessica Rose. With an education in photography and work experience with jewelers, Jen created her first jewelry pieces using images from her photo contact sheets backed in clay to make earrings, pendants, and bracelets. Exploring this idea further, Jen continues to develop techniques for incorporating her nature photography, vintage, antique, and personal photographs into unique wearable art pieces and keepsakes.
Within her art career, Jen has sold her jewelry at many fine craft galleries in the United States. Exhibits at The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show, Smithsonian Craft Show, Mad About Jewelry in NYC and featured in Martha Stewart Living Magazine.
