Welcome to Yoko Kintsugi Studio, where broken ceramics are gently restored through the ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi.
Each piece is mended with urushi lacquer and real gold, not to hide its damage, but to celebrate it—as a part of its journey.

My practice is rooted in traditional techniques I learned under master maki-e artist Makoto Koike, whom I studied with for over 11 years. Every repair is done by hand, with deep respect for time, imperfection, and the story each object carries.

Based in Yamanashi, Japan, my studio is surrounded by mountains and silence—an ideal place to reflect on beauty that emerges through healing. I also hold workshops to share this philosophy with others, both in Japan and with visitors from around the world.

Kintsugi teaches us that what is broken is not lost. It becomes something more.
