Hey there! I'm Madeleine, a 17-year-old gymnast and the owner of Mad Maker Space. I believe that personalized gymnastics gifts should go beyond the generic gymnastics silhouette we often see. That's why I create custom 3D gymnastics silhouettes that empower each gymnast through their unique silhouette.
It all started back in December 2019 when I began selling gymnastics illustrations on Etsy. As the pandemic hit, my business took off, and my Instagram following grew. That's when I made the transition to Redbubble, earning commissions from each item sold with my illustrations. But I knew I wanted to do something even more special for the gymnastics world.
That's when the idea of creating custom 3D silhouettes came to me. I started small, selling them as stocking stuffers at my gym. The response was incredible, and I soon began crafting larger 3D silhouettes that stand almost 12 inches tall. Working with 3D printing can be challenging at times, but I believe it's important to be patient and craft each product with care. In fact, I often include imperfect or unfinished parts of the silhouette in each package, adding a unique touch.
My home has transformed into a makerspace, filled with 3D printers, Cricut machines, heat presses, and an embroidery machine. It's where the magic happens as I bring each gymnast's silhouette to life.
The best part of running Mad Maker Space is connecting with gymnasts all over the world. There's a special bond among gymnasts, forged by the work ethic and dedication required by the sport. I'm incredibly grateful to the Instagram gymnasts who have followed my entrepreneurial journey despite the changes it has undergone. I also appreciate the support from my gym, allowing me to sell to the team parents and display a poster. My ultimate hope is that my website and products foster a sense of self-pride and inner strength among gymnasts.
Not only do I manage my Etsy shop, but I also raise funds for gymnastics gyms as a vendor. At meets, I set up a table where I create personalized gifts on the spot with my Cricut for parents to purchase as shoutouts.
