Retirement, a Nudge and a Leap of Faith
Siempre me ha encantado crear, diseñar y hacer manualidades que alegren a los demás. Incluso llegué a pensar en emprender un negocio donde pudiera compartir mi creatividad y las cosas que me gusta hacer, pero la vida tenía otros planes. Como profesora de matemáticas e informática durante 40 años, me encantaba mi trabajo, pero el trabajo, la familia y la rutina diaria me mantenían ocupada. No tenía mucho tiempo para usar mi lado creativo, así que mi pequeño sueño empresarial se quedó en el fondo de mi mente. Entonces llegó la COVID y con ella la jubilación, y de repente, tuve algo que nunca antes había tenido: tiempo.
Lo curioso es que no tenía pensado empezar esta aventura de inmediato. Todo comenzó seis años después, cuando mi hermana mencionó que vendía sus tarjetas hechas a mano, y de repente se me encendió la bombilla: "¡Yo también puedo hacerlo!". Así que me lancé a la aventura, ¡un gran salto!, ¡y aquí estoy!
Hoy en día, dedico mis días a crear, diseñar, explorar nuevas ideas y transformar la inspiración en objetos que espero hagan sonreír a alguien. Puede ser una camiseta divertida o emotiva, una taza alegre, una tarjeta de felicitación para alguien especial o algún producto totalmente nuevo que de repente me inspire a probar.
Lo que empezó como un sueño para el que nunca tenía tiempo se ha convertido en parte de mi vida diaria. La jubilación me dio el tiempo, mi hermana me animó y mucha fe me dio el valor para empezar. ¡Con la ayuda de Dios, lo lograré!

I’ve always loved crafting, designing, and creating things that bring a little happiness to others. I even toyed with having a business someday where I could share my creativity and the things I love to make, but life had other plans. As a Math and Computer Science teacher for 40 years, I loved what I did, but work, family, and everyday life kept me busy. I didn’t have much time to make use of the creative, other side of my brain, so my little business dream stayed tucked away in the back of my mind. Then Covid hit and with it, retirement—and suddenly, I had something I had never had before: time.
The funny thing is, I didn’t plan to start this journey right away. It all started 6 years later when my sister mentioned that she was selling her handmade cards, and suddenly the light went on “I can do that too!”. So I took a leap of faith—a BIG leap—and here I am!
Today, I get to spend my days creating, designing, exploring new ideas, and turning inspiration into things that I hope will make someone else smile. It might be a funny or heartfelt t-shirt, a cheerful mug, a greeting card for someone special, or some completely new product that I suddenly get inspired to try.
What started as a dream I never had enough time for has become a part of my everyday life. Retirement gave me the time, my sister gave me the nudge, and a whole lot of faith gave me the courage to begin, and with the Lord's help I'll be able to make it happen!
