✨ Our Story — Nex Clay Studio
Nex Clay Studio nació de un viaje profundamente personal.
Crecí en Jingdezhen, una pequeña ciudad china conocida como la "Capital de la Porcelana" desde hace más de mil años. Durante mi infancia, el ritmo de la vida estaba marcado por los hornos, la arcilla y el fuego. Mis abuelos eran directores de fábricas de cerámica locales, y para nosotros la cerámica nunca fue solo un objeto, sino una forma de vida.
Desde muy joven, vi a artesanos dedicar años —a menudo décadas— a dominar este oficio. El verdadero dominio de la cerámica no se logra de la noche a la mañana; se necesitan al menos diez años de práctica para empezar a comprender el material, el fuego y el equilibrio entre el control y la imprevisibilidad.
Al mudarme a Estados Unidos, descubrí algo sorprendente: si bien la cerámica existe en todas partes, la artesanía en porcelana verdaderamente expresiva y con profundas raíces culturales es escasa aquí. Esa constatación fue el origen de Nex Clay Studio.

Detrás de cada pieza de cerámica hay un artesano.
Y detrás de cada artesano hay toda una vida de dedicación.
Trabajar con arcilla y hornos es físicamente exigente. La exposición prolongada al polvo y a las altas temperaturas suele provocar problemas respiratorios y cutáneos en muchos artesanos mayores. Sin embargo, muchos siguen trabajando simplemente por amor al oficio.
En Nex Clay Studio, creemos que preservar esta tradición significa apoyar a las personas que la mantienen viva.
Por eso nos comprometemos a donar una parte de nuestros beneficios a los artesanos de la cerámica de Jingdezhen, ayudando a mejorar sus condiciones de vida y honrando a las generaciones que forjaron este patrimonio.

Nex Clay Studio was born from a deeply personal journey.
I grew up in Jingdezhen — a small city in China known as the “Porcelain Capital” for over a thousand years. In my childhood, the rhythm of life was shaped by kilns, clay, and fire. My grandparents were both factory directors in local kilns, and ceramics were never just objects to us — they were a way of life.
From a young age, I watched artisans dedicate years — often decades — to mastering this craft. True ceramic mastery is not rushed; it takes at least ten years of practice to begin understanding the material, the fire, and the balance between control and unpredictability.
When I moved to the United States, I realized something surprising: while ceramics exist everywhere, truly expressive, culturally rooted porcelain craftsmanship is rare here. That realization became the beginning of Nex Clay Studio.

Working with clay and kilns is physically demanding. Long-term exposure to dust and high temperatures often leads to respiratory and skin conditions for many older craftsmen. Yet, many continue working simply out of love for the craft.
At Nex Clay Studio, we believe preserving this tradition means supporting the people who carry it.
That’s why we commit to donating a portion of our profits back to ceramic artisans in Jingdezhen — helping improve their living conditions and honoring the generations who shaped this heritage.
