Non sono un grande esperto di parole, ma ecco qualcosa su di me e sul mio viaggio. Sono sempre stato un tipo creativo e lavoravo parecchio il legno. Qualche tempo fa mi è stata diagnosticata la SM e ho alcuni altri problemi di salute che limitano la mia mobilità. Anche se mi piacerebbe ancora lavorare il legno, è diventato un po' troppo impegnativo dal punto di vista fisico per me. Così ho venduto la mia attrezzatura per la lavorazione del legno, ho acquistato un laser industriale e ho costruito un umile ufficio nel mio garage.

Ho ricevuto il mio laser nel luglio 2022 e ho trascorso un anno ad apprendere i dettagli della macchina. Ho aperto il mio negozio Etsy all'inizio del 2023. Il mio negozio ha guadagnato poca, se non nessuna, attenzione per i primi 5 mesi. Poi, nel settembre 2023, un gruppo di soccorso mi si è avvicinato e mi ha chiesto se avrei donato uno dei miei Rottie Badge per la loro asta online. Ho donato con entusiasmo diversi distintivi e altri oggetti. Mi sono anche impegnato a donare il 40% di tutte le mie vendite su Etsy al salvataggio durante l'asta. L'asta è stata un enorme successo, ha portato alla mia prima vendita di Esty e ha generato centinaia di dollari per i cuccioli salvati. Da allora ho fatto molte altre aste con vari gruppi di soccorso in tutto il paese.

Inizialmente ho iniziato con solo alcuni badge per auto Rottie e ho continuamente aggiunto nuove razze alla formazione. La maggior parte dei distintivi della nuova razza provengono da richieste dei clienti e sono sempre aperto a idee e suggerimenti. Avere la capacità di essere creativo e raccogliere fondi per assistere i gruppi di soccorso ha migliorato notevolmente la mia vita.

Abbiamo avuto il nostro primo Rottie, Samson, nel 2010. Non riesco a esprimere a parole quanto fosse meraviglioso. Ha fatto così tanto per cambiare la percezione della razza. Ha fatto spettacoli alle riunioni dei Cub Scout, ai gruppi ecclesiali, alle scuole ed è apparso anche nei notiziari locali e si è esibito in uno spettacolo a metà tempo di una partita di calcio. All’età di 6 anni gli fu diagnosticato un linfoma e ci salutammo poco dopo. È stata una delle cose più difficili che abbia mai dovuto affrontare. Se stai leggendo questo, probabilmente sei una persona che ama i cani e puoi identificarti. Da allora abbiamo perso i nostri Ryker (6), Freya (5), Thea (10) e Daisy (9). È devastante e non diventa mai più facile. Attualmente condividiamo le nostre vite con Sieger, Macie (Moo Moo) e Jema. Non li diamo mai per scontati; diamo loro la migliore vita possibile; e semplicemente ci godiamo ogni minuto che trascorriamo con loro.

Il mio figliastro, Michael, si è recentemente unito a me nel mio viaggio d'affari. Michael è un ex marine americano e mi tiene in linea. Ho paura di commettere errori altrimenti mi farà fare le flessioni. Ahah. Scherzi a parte, Michael ha imparato a usare il laser e il software molto più velocemente di quanto avessi mai immaginato. Michael risponde alla maggior parte dei messaggi che riceviamo e gestisce anche tutti i nostri account sui social media.

I'm not much of a word-smith, but here's a little bit about me and my journey. I've always been a creative fella and I used to do quite a bit of wood working. A while ago I was diagnosed with MS and I have a few other health issues that limit my mobility. While I'd still love to woodwork, it's just become a bit too physically challenging for me. So I sold my woodworking equipment, bought an industrial laser and built a humble office space in my garage.

I received my laser in July 2022 and I spent a year learning the ins and outs of the machine. I opened my Etsy shop in early 2023. My shop gained little, if any, attention for the first 5 months. Then in September 2023, a rescue group approached me and asked if I'd donate one of my Rottie Badges for their online auction. I enthusiastically donated several badges and others items. I also pledged to donate 40 percent of all my Etsy sales to the rescue during the auction. The auction was a huge success, resulted in my first Esty sales and generated hundreds of dollars for the rescue pups. I've since done many additional auctions with various rescue groups across the country.

I originally started with just a few Rottie car badges and I have been continually adding new breeds to the lineup. Most of the new breed badges have come from customer requests and I'm always open to ideas and suggestions. Having the ability to be creative and raise funds to assist rescue groups has enhanced my life greatly.

We got our first Rottie, Samson, in 2010. I cannot put into words how wonderful he was. He did so much to change the perception of the breed. He did shows at Cub Scout meetings, church groups, schools and was even featured on our local news and performed at a football game half time show. At the age of 6, he was diagnosed with lymphoma and we said goodbye shortly afterwards. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to cope with. If you're reading this, you're likely a dog person and you can relate. We've since lost our Ryker (6), Freya (5), Thea (10) and Daisy (9). It's devastating and never gets any easier. We currently share our lives with Sieger, Macie (Moo Moo) and Jema. We never take them for granted; we give them the best lives we can; and we simply just enjoy every minute we have with them.

My step-son, Michael, has recently joined me on my business journey. Michael is a former U.S. Marine and he keeps me inline. I'm afraid to make mistakes or he'll make me do push-ups. Haha. All kidding aside, Michael has learned the laser and software much faster than I ever imagined. Michael replies to most of the messages we receive and he handles all of our social media accounts as well.
