Zoveel ideeën, zo weinig tijd
So Many Ideas, So Little Time
Mijn vroegste herinneringen aan naaien en knutselen dateren van toen ik vijf of zes was en mijn oma een tafel in haar woonkamer zette waar mijn zus en ik eindeloos aan werkten. Ze werkte in een zaak genaamd de Palette Party Shop, dé hobbywinkel van de jaren zestig. Ze nam kralen, spelden, piepschuim, vilt, lijm, noem maar op mee naar huis!
Het was rond die tijd dat mijn moeder serieus begon met naaien. Ze bewaarde haar restjes voor me en ik maakte leuke dingen zoals handtassen, kussens en Barbie-kleertjes. Toen ik opgroeide, had Barbie niet al haar spullen, ze had alleen kleren en schoenen. Niet mijn Barbie, zij had het beste huis ooit! Ik maakte haar bed, bank, gordijnen, tafels, enzovoort.
Uiteraard is er veel gebeurd tussen mijn jeugd in de jaren zestig en nu. Veel van mijn patronen zijn gepubliceerd in talloze boeken en tijdschriften, en zijn ook hier en overal op internet te vinden. Ik kan gewoon niet stoppen met ontwerpen, en ik ben ook niet van plan om dat binnenkort te doen.

My earliest memories of sewing and crafting was when I was five or six and my grandma would put up a table in her living room where my sister and I would create forever. She worked at a place called the Palette Party Shop, it was the craft store of the sixties. She would bring home beads, pins, styrofoam, felt, glue, you name it!
It was about that time that my mom started doing some serious sewing. She'd save me her scraps and I made fun things like purses, pillows, and Barbie clothes. Back when I was growing up Barbie didn't have all the stuff she has now, all she had was clothes and shoes. Not my Barbie, she had the best house ever! I made her bed, couch, curtains, tables, etc.
Obviously, a lot has happened between my childhood in the sixties and today. Many of my patterns have been published in numerous books and magazines, as well as available to you here and all over the Internet. I just can't stop designing, and I don't plan on it anytime soon.
