Tengo muchos roles maravillosos en mi vida, incluyendo hija, estudiante, dentista, madre y esposa. En el proceso, he tenido la fortuna de encontrar mi verdadera pasión. Esta pasión tiene dos enfoques diferentes que parecen fusionarse fácilmente en uno solo...
La primera parte es de mi padre, Robert Truman, quien me introdujo en el mundo de la numismática, o coleccionismo de monedas. Recuerdo sentarme con él de niño, intentando comprender el doble troquelado del pequeño centavo de cobre, así como el significado de que el búfalo solo tuviera tres patas en una antigua moneda de cinco centavos. Pero realmente me apasionó y se consolidó como una pasión cuando cargamos su extensa colección en un camión de mudanzas en septiembre de 2023.
El segundo tema es la joyería, específicamente la plata esterlina de Silpada. Fui representante de diseño de Silpada en esta empresa, creada y dirigida por mujeres extraordinarias. Me encantaba la calidad y era muy fácil venderla porque la joyería es atemporal y hermosa. Quería todo el catálogo y lo conseguí con mucho esfuerzo, aprendiendo sobre ventas directas y creando amistades y contactos.
Además, las monedas me hablan porque me olvido de mí misma y de todo el estrés diario cuando, como decía mi padre, "juego con monedas". Todo esto surgió en el trabajo cuando mi higienista me sugirió que hiciera un collar con una de las monedas de mi padre. El collar me permitiría tener las monedas cerca para honrar su memoria. Fue con este impulso que hice mi primer colgante, que lleva una moneda de plata de Niue de 2 dólares con la imagen de un búho ateniense. Esto es aún más especial porque a mi madre le encantaban los búhos y los coleccionaba.
Tengo la fortuna de contar con un maravilloso grupo de pacientes, cuatro hijos preciosos y un esposo amoroso que me apoyan en esta nueva aventura. Gracias a su gran apoyo, les ofrezco mis joyas y monedas.
I have so many wonderful roles in my life including daughter, student, dentist, mother, and wife. In the process, I am lucky enough to have found my true passion. This passion has two different focuses that seem to meld easily into one...
The first part is from my father, Robert Truman, who brought me into the world of Numismatics or coin collecting. I remember sitting with him as a child trying to understand the doubled die on the tiny copper penny and well as the significance of the buffalo only having three legs on an old nickel. But it really came to my heart and to full fruition after we loaded his extensive collection into a U-Haul in September of 2023.
The Second is Jewelry, specifically Silpada Sterling Silver. I was a Silpada Design Representative with this company that was both created and controlled by amazing women. I loved the quality and it was so easy to sell because the jewelry is timeless and beautiful. I wanted the entire catalog contents, and I obtained it with hard work and lesions in direct sells and making friendships/contacts.
Further, the coins talk to me because I lose myself and all the daily stress when I what my dad called, "play coins”. This all came together at work when my hygienist suggested that I make a necklace with one of my father's coins. The necklace would keep the coins close to me to honor the memory of my father. It was with this impetus that I made my first coin pendant which holds a Silver Niue $2 Athenian Owl coin. This is even more special because my mother loved and collected owls.
I am blessed with a wonderful group of patients, four beautiful boys, and a loving husband who are supporting me in this new venture. With much support, it is my jewelry and coins that I am here to offer to you.
