A Transformation of the Life of betsyDesign
Mi tienda no siempre se llamaba betsyDesign.
Comencé mi tienda después de la universidad en 2008 y la llamé Lizardous. Vendí artículos hechos a mano, decoración del hogar y vintage, como lo hago hoy. Elegí este nombre porque sentí que abarcaba las colecciones de cerebro disperso que amo (y porque mi nombre adulto es Liz y mi amor por los lagartos). Me encanta lo vintage y me encanta "hacer" cosas. Me encanta cómo al final del día puedo mirar mi creación y decirme a mí mismo "Yo hice eso". Me encanta cómo soy capaz y apasionado por los artículos hechos a mano y por apoyar todo lo que representan.
Hace un año más o menos necesitaba un cambio: quería volver a mis raíces de mi nombre original cuando era niña (Betsy) y decidí cambiar el nombre de mi tienda como betsyDesign. Aprendí a crear cosas cuando era más joven: crecí en una granja lechera en el noreste de Wisconsin y mi madre me enseñó a coser, tejer y hacer ganchillo. Al mudarme al suburbio de Chicago, ya no tenía esas lecciones nocturnas de aprendizaje de una nueva habilidad, sino que quería mostrar para siempre mi gratitud de esos días.
Hoy, hago cosas. Hago cosas que amo y quiero compartir contigo. Quiero que veas algo en mi tienda y sepas que fue hecho con cuidado y amor. Quiero que tengas esa conexión con algo que he hecho que podrías tener con un aroma que no has olido en mucho tiempo, pero cuando lo haces pone una sonrisa en tu rostro. Quiero que sepas que puse mucho cuidado en hacer mis artículos y describirlos lo mejor posible para mis habilidades y tratar de usar materiales reciclables para el envío.

My shop was not always called betsyDesign.
I started my shop after college back in 2008 and I named it Lizardous. I sold hand-made items, home decor, and vintage -- as I do today. I chose this name because I felt it encompassed the scatter-brained collections that I love (and because my adult name is Liz and my love of lizards). I love vintage and I love "making" things. I love how at the end of the day I can look at my creation and tell myself "I made that." I love how I am capable and passionate about hand-made items and supporting everything they stand for.
A year or so ago I needed a change -- I wanted to go back to my roots of my original name as a child (Betsy) and decided to re-name my shop as betsyDesign. I learned to create things when I was younger -- I grew up on a dairy farm in Northeastern Wisconsin and my mom taught me how to sew, knit, and crochet. Moving to the suburb of Chicago I no longer had those late-night teaching-lessons of learning a new skill, but wanted to forever show my gratitude of those days.
Today -- I make things. I make things that I love and want to share with you. I want you to see something in my shop and know it was made with care and love. I want you to have that connection with something that I've made that you might have with a scent you haven't smelled in a long time, but when you do it puts a smile on your face. I want you to know I put great care into making my items and describing them the best to my abilities and try to use recyclable materials for shipping.
I want you to experience betsyDesign.
