Sentimental charm jewelry, statement bathrooms, and our official Color of the Year! Ready to meet the looks you're about to fall in love with?
From Tomato Girl and Gingerbread Girl to our pickleball obsession, penchant for bows, and concert-fueled frenzy for friendship bracelets, the 2023 trend highlight reel was jam-packed. It was a year filled with hot pink, mermaids, metallics, and mushrooms—playful and personality-packed in the best possible way. We loved every minute, but as we take stock and look to the year ahead, we have to admit we like what we see. Wondering what to expect in 2024?
We’ve consulted our crystal ball and things are looking decidedly…romantic. That’s right: The next 365 days are all about romanticizing everything, from getting dressed in the morning (think: charm bracelets, ruffles, and yes, more bows!) to your bathroom decor. “This year’s top trend predictions indicate that consumers are craving the comfort of a little extra sweetness in their daily rituals,” says Etsy Trend Expert Dayna Isom Johnson. “They’re elevating life’s simple pleasures and creating moments of beauty to savor each day.” Where do we sign up? Read on to meet the trends and learn how to make them your own.
Romancecore
"Pulling inspiration from the recent Balletcore and Lovecore movements, this aesthetic embraces all things silk, satin, and sheer along with feminine details like lace, ruffles and bows that add a sense of movement and softness to any outfit," explains Dayna. It's soft, gentle, and a little bit whimsical—aka exactly the energy we're trying to channel in the year ahead.

Denim decor
We've always loved an all-denim ensemble (Canadian tuxedo fans, unite!), but in the year ahead, denim's moving out of our wardrobes and into our living spaces—and we couldn't be more here for it. "This timeless and durable textile lends itself to a laid-back, lived-in aesthetic that channels the ‘70s, and provides the same sense of comfort as your favorite pair of jeans," says Dayna. From the art on our walls to the functional finds making our lives easier in the kitchen, we're leaning in hard.

Charmed jewelry
"We’re predicting that whimsical charmed jewelry will be big next year," says Dayna, who points to the buildable, customizable nature of these conversation-starting necklaces and bracelets as a huge part of their appeal. "This trend marks a return to the art of storytelling through personal accessories and a desire for items that carry sentimental value." The only question is: what charms will you choose, and what will they say about you?

Statement bathrooms
The most overlooked room in the house is overlooked no more! "In 2024, bathrooms will no longer be an afterthought, but instead, a focal point of the home," says Dayna, predicting big moments for bright colors, eye-catching artwork, and creative vanity lighting. Instead of rushing through your shower and skin care routines, why not create a spa-like space to help you luxuriate in them? Think of it as romanticizing self-care!

Barrel bags
Our new bag bestie for 2024? The barrel! "Roomier than a mini bag, this round and cylindrical '90s throwback can be thought of as a more sophisticated and compact duffel bag, and can be worn in multiple ways, from top handle to cross-body," says Dayna. Opt for a bright color to spice up your workwear or keep things neutral for maximum styling versatility—either way, you can't go wrong.

Have a blank wall calling your name? "Next year, many shoppers are eager to embrace more creative and unexpected art displays," says Dayna. Whether you choose a singular statement piece in epic proportions or ditch the frame entirely for wallpaper or textile art, there's no wrong way to refresh your collection.

Berry
Drumroll, please! Our 2024 Color of the Year is here, and it's berry good, if we do say so ourselves. Blending and balancing red and blue tones, Dayna calls the hue "a grown-up version of the popular pinks of 2023." Refined, romantic, and ready for all seasons, we've already started sprinkling berry into our homes and wardrobes—and couldn't recommend it more.
