Tired of staring at screens all day for her job as a graphic designer, Victoria Gilles Fernández decided to enroll in a design theory course in 2017 to get her creative juices flowing again—and hasn't looked back since. "I immediately fell in love with clay," says the Argentinian-born, London-based seller behind one of our favorite home decor shops, Victoria Ceramics. "Something inside me clicked and luckily never left." And that recently discovered passion, along with her Latin American heritage and love for natural landscapes, is felt in each piece she creates, from functional vases that double as works of art to stunning serving platters featuring inlaid designs. Read on to find out more about why this shop will quickly become a new favorite, and to explore her beautifully crafted pieces.

Why Victoria Ceramics should be on your radar: The true uniqueness of Victoria's pieces can be felt through a combination of her techniques like slab building and inlaying, as well as her deep connection to her culture and desire to bring that joy to others through her art. "I sketch abstract patterns that have a personal meaning to me, and I use them like a language. So I have this toolbox of ideas that I use and translate into clay."

The best investment pieces for your home: The beautiful thing about Victoria's collection (besides the actual beauty!) is that the colorful patterns would work well in both neutral and boldly-designed spaces. When it comes to a functional piece that you could display and use for years to come, we can't take our eyes off this handmade ceramic vase. The piece, which is part of Victoria's "The Cosmic Dancer" series that centers around the need to reconnect with nature, is made from stoneware clay, finished with glazed details, and features modern handles that make an instant statement. And don't worry if it doesn't match ceramics you currently have in your home. Victoria says, "If it's a mismatch, so be it, as long as you find a story, a memory, or a meaning behind it it will be perfect."

In their own words: "I’m interested in bringing a bit of my own culture and vision of the world while adding joy to each space. Each pattern I make is influenced by landscapes I recall from home, places I visited, and the urban scene. I make a collage in my mind of colors, textures, memories, and sounds, that then I translate that into my designs. That’s why each piece is unique and so special to me. I love my country and I’m proud of my roots and I love that they are present in my work. It’s like a bridge I build every day that helps me feel more connected to them."
