How-To: Japanese Zōri Sandals

by PeteCorrie

Mar 10, 2011

Start digging through that rag bin and give those toes a breath of fresh air by making your own pair of flip flops.

Today's crafty project comes from our friends over on the Etsy Deutscher Blog. Artist and long-time Etsy friend Pete Corrie gives a tutorial on making ZÅri sandals — traditional Japanese flip flops. Though sometimes made from twine or rubber, Pete uses recycled cloth scraps and even recommends digging into your stash of old T-shirts, bed sheets or towels. Each strip of material should be cut to about a foot long and about .5-2.5 inches wide. So get a comfortable seat and follow along with Pete. For Part 2 and 3 of the tutorial, visit the Etsy Deutscher Blog post. Don't speak German? Never fear — the videos are in English!
