    Learn More About Tissue Paper

One of the most enjoyable parts of giving someone special a present is picking out the perfect gift wrapping. Even traditional wrapping paper gets a unique and creative upgrade when you shop the creative small shops on Etsy. Here are a few unique ways to wrap a present:

    • Gift boxes: A pretty gift box can be all the wrapping you need, or you can add a patterned ribbon to dress it up even more.
    • Gift bags: Always helpful to have on-hand, a patterned gift bag is an easy grab-and-go way to wrap a gift. Make it extra unique by choosing one of the illustrated designs from an Etsy shop or even a personalized gift bag made just for them.
    • Fabric gift wrap: A traditional practice in Japan, using patterned fabric (or furoshiki) is a sustainable gift wrap option. Pick a pretty scarf that can be used once the unwrapping is done, and you’ve just doubled your gift.

Both crêpe paper and tissue paper can be used as gift wrap and for crafts, but there are a few differences between the two.

    • Texture: Crêpe paper is usually textured, while tissue paper is smooth.
    • Coating: Tissue paper is uncoated, but crêpe paper has been coated with a substance that causes it to hold its shape more when folded or creased.
    • Thickness: Tissue paper is generally half as thick as crêpe paper.

Tissue paper can be used for crafts, gift wrapping, and decor. Gift tissue paper comes in sheets and can be used as filler inside a gift box or arranged in a gift bag. Printed tissue paper can be used directly as gift wrap. Simply wrap your gift in it as you would wrapping paper, add a bow, and gift away. During the holiday, Christmas tissue paper can be a great way to conceal the gifts inside your family’s stockings.

Adding tissue paper to a gift bag can help conceal the gift it holds. Depending on the size of the gift, small gifts can be wrapped in a piece of tissue paper before placing them in the bag while larger gifts may be placed directly into the bag. Next, lay your tissue paper out in front of you and pick up one piece by pinching it in the center and lifting it up. This creates a narrow bottom corner that can be placed down into your gift bag while the top corners are visible above the edge of the gift bag.
