Ciao. Sono Brett. Vivo nello Utah con una bellissima moglie e (*gasp*) cinque fantastici bambini.
Inoltre...mi piacciono i progetti. ...O a volte ho bisogno di fare progetti. O più realisticamente, probabilmente un sano mix di entrambi. (Mi piace molto anche quando i progetti sono FINITI!)
Non sapevo davvero che mi piacessero i progetti finché non ho scoperto che continuavo a farne sempre di più. Quindi... devono piacermi. Giusto? [... GIUSTO?...] Oh, ci sono stati un sacco di momenti in cui ho messo in dubbio la mia sanità mentale per averne iniziato un altro, mentre mi ritrovavo a cercare di tagliare 4″ di un pavimento di cemento con una sega. Eppure, lo ricomincio e trovo altro da fare.
Onestamente, penso che molto di ciò derivi semplicemente dall'intersezione comune tra la proprietà della casa ("Il pozzo dei soldi") e la frugalità ("Metti un tappo allo scarico dei soldi"). Ma ho amato il processo di apprendimento. E alla fine, mia moglie e io siamo davvero contenti di aver fatto i progetti (anche se avrei potuto fare a meno della polvere di cemento in ogni crepaccio della mia casa e della mia anima). Amo il fatto di avere ora la sicurezza di affrontare così tanti progetti domestici perché so come si incastrano insieme... e forse ancora più importante, so come risolvere le cose se vanno male.
Ho utilizzato risorse online per molti progetti che ho realizzato. È un ottimo strumento. Ma mentre gran parte di esso è stato utile, molte delle risorse sono state presentate da persone che sono davvero brave nell'edilizia e forse carenti nella loro capacità di mostrare chiare istruzioni passo dopo passo online. È qui che spero di contribuire a questa grande comunità online di amanti del fai da te. Ho imparato molto lungo il percorso e voglio contribuire in un modo che fornisca informazioni chiare, ma non così eccessivamente tecniche da andare oltre le teste di noi esseri umani con i piedi per terra che cercano solo di far funzionare la nostra casa per noi. Spero che ti sia utile nei tuoi progetti.

I didn’t really know I liked projects until I found out that I kept doing more and more of them. So … I must like them. Right? […RIGHT?…] Oh, there have been plenty of moments in them that I question my sanity for starting yet another one, as I find myself trying to cut through 4″ of a concrete floor with a saw. And yet, I start it up again, and find more to do.
Honestly, I think much of that just comes with the common intersection of home ownership (“The money pit”) and frugality (“Put a plug in the money drain”). But I’ve loved the learning process. And in the end, my wife and I are really glad that we did the projects (though I could have done without the concrete dust in every crevasse of my house and my soul). I love that I have the confidence now to tackle so many home projects because I know how it fits together … and maybe more importantly, I know how to fix it if it goes wrong.
I’ve used online resources for many projects I’ve done. It’s a great tool. But while much of it has been helpful, a lot of the resources have been presented by folks who are really good at construction and maybe lacking in their ability to show clear step-by-step instructions online. That’s where I hope to contribute to this grand online community of DIY-ers. I’ve learned a lot along the way and I want to contribute back in a way that provides clear information, but not so overly technical that it goes over the heads of us down-to-earth human beings just trying to keep our home working for us. I hope it’s useful to you in your projects.
