Announcement    Welcome to my Etsy shop. All the ceramic work shown here is carefully handcrafted in my Montreal (Quebec, Canada) studio. I'm pretty new as an Etsy seller but I've been working in clay since 2002. It's a passion... When I'm not in my studio or taking care of my family, I'm teaching ceramic class to beginners as well as college student and feel very lucky to be able to share my passion to others.

When what you do for a living does not feel like work!

Julie Duguay is fully dedicated to working with clay since 2002. Before that she was a industrial designer and worked in that field for ten years. But playing with clay was introduce to her at an early age. She took her first class when she was 7 yearsold! She still has some of those pieces (thanks to her Mom who was never able to throw them away!). In her twenties she went off to continue her studies in design in Paris and it was there that she renewded with clay as she took an introduction class where she did some handbuilding and raku firing. That was it! Coming back to Montreal to finish her design diploma, she choose to make a full dinnerware set as her degree project and won the first prize from the Industrial Designer association of Quebec with the 24 pieces set.

As a designer she worked for different compagnies like Danesco, Addico, Wrebbit and Fruit&Passion. Later on, she learned ceramic at « Centre de Céramique Bonsecours » and finish in 2002.

Her taste for clean, minimalistic shape and decor was best suited with the method of slipcasting clay and creating sculpted model of the pieces she imagined.
But she also enjoy to throw in a more traditional method for certain pieces.

Every day when she is not teaching ceramics, she enters her studio and almost pinch herself, because she is living her dream. She trully feels blessed that what she does for a living , even thought it is hard work, does not feel like it at all! In her studio she become that little seven yearsold playing with clay again!
