Luxury, Natural Fabrics for the Whole Family
A few years ago, shortly after I had begun my adventure with fabric dyeing, a friend told me about a dress she bought for her daughter years ago from a handmade seller. She said it was a hooded dress, made of a thick, weighty hemp fabric, with a beautiful skirt for spinning, and it was dyed in a rainbow gradient. She was asking on our “mommy forum” if anyone knew of someone who could make such a thing, as the original shop was gone.
I began to scour the internet to see if anyone else was making girls dresses or skirts like this, and I couldn't find what she was describing. I knew of a few places where natural-living, crafty moms like to shop and swap handmade goods. I could find diapers made of gorgeous organic fabrics—hemp, bamboo, organic cotton, various kind of velour, many dyed with beautiful artistry, and cotton prints imported from Europe. While I was (and am) a cloth diapering mom, I couldn't help but think “Those fabrics are too beautiful to be hidden away in a diaper cover. Why doesn't anyone make regular CLOTHES out of them? *I* want to wear something made of bamboo velour for MYSELF!” I knew that if I thought this, there had to be other moms like me thinking the same thing. It was then that I decided to turn my Etsy shop into a “real” business to meet this need, rather than selling handknit items that I made here and there as I'd been doing for quite a few years. Each item I make is unique, as the dye process creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind results every time. Customers from all over the world tell me that my items are their and their children's favorites, and I am sure they will be your family's favorites too.
