About MissGigotine
The meeting of two passions.
I always loved to create, craft was part of my life since childhood. My passion for sewing appeared in adolescence. I sewed for myself and others... clothing for children or adults, costumes, corsets, cloth diapers, stuffed animals and even a wedding dress! Many people encouraged me to start my own business, but the enthusiasm was not on my side ...
After becoming a mother, this long-standing passion for sewing was fused to a whole new love: babywearing. The wraps, their different weaving, colors and textures make me alive! I had found THE area that would allow me to transmit my passion for babywearing while creating beautiful and useful objects.
The name of the store has established itself: Miss Gigotine, my daughter's nickname! This adorable child, colorful and lively, inspires me to create unique baby carriers.

Miss "helps" with creation by tangling threads and stealing pink or purple wrap fabric (to create her own stash, I guess...). I'll let you know when she starts working on carriers (on her wooden sewing machine, of course!).

Daddy is the one in charge of lifting heavy stuff and nailing wooden things, when necessary. He also helps to make babywearing mirrors and add snaps, but we won't say that publicly... It's not manly enough ;)

Frequently asked questions
Ring Sling Shoulder styles
- Pleated: Pleats are sewn to keep the fabric from spreading at the shoulder.
- Gathered: The fabric is sewn across the entire wrap width. The wearer can spread it to his/her liking.
- Hybrid: My own hybrid version has pleats on each side (usually 6 pleats total). The middle is more or less gathered (I do what is best for the wrap pattern/weight).
What is the difference between weaving types?
-Plain weave: This is the simplest weave. The weft thread passes alternately above and below a warp thread. Common examples : Canvas and bed linens.
-Twill weave: The weft thread passes below a warp yarn, then over several others by shifting each pass. This creates oblique lines on one or both sides of the fabric. Example: Denim.
The BROKEN TWILL, for its part, is a very malleable weaving. It stretches the same way in both diagonals. It is therefore ideal for babywearing, giving unmatched draping capabilities.
-Jacquard : The Jacquard loom is used to create complex patterns, using several colors.
