An Evolution of Self through family and Zen Sewing
Il y a environ 25 ans, Allearthlings est né avec mon aîné.
Les produits biologiques, les couches en tissu et les vêtements en patchwork bien faits n’étaient pas facilement disponibles à cette époque, alors j’ai décidé de fabriquer ces articles pour notre famille grandissante. Ma première jupe patchwork faite est toujours aussi douce et confortable et a plus de 24 ans!
Nous avons voyagé plusieurs fois partout aux États-Unis ... vendre nos produits dans les festivals, les concerts et les magasins en cours de route! Et a eu l’occasion de voyager à l’étranger à de nombreuses reprises, trouvant l’inspiration abondant.
Le tricot est devenu une partie d’Allearthlings en 2009 dans une aventure de cross-country, me laissant sans mon studio et mes machines, mais le besoin de créer et d’enchérir mon temps. La ligne « Chapeaux de voyage » a été créée sur une période de 6 mois, avec un grand succès pour garder nos têtes de famille et d’amis au chaud!
Je viens d’une longue lignée de designers et de couturières, personnellement enseignées par ma mère, mes tantes et mes grands-mères.
Avec leurs encouragements et leurs compétences, Savannah College of Art and Design a été mon lieu d’éducation formelle et de raffinement dans l’utilitarisme et les éléments de construction, la compréhension du textile et les applications de la théorie des couleurs.
Les années ont passé, alors que Allearthlings a été un lieu de zen constant pour moi... ma forme de méditation et de paix... mon nid chaleureux de textiles, les doux bourdonnements de machines et l’expression de soi. Je me change et me transforme constamment au fil du temps et de l’inspiration.
En tant qu’amoureux de longue date des films d’arts martiaux, ancien artiste martial accompli, yogi actuel et mon fils ancien aïkidoïste,
Je suis devenu fasciné par les sacs d’armes!
Après des années à essayer de trouver mon « truc », je trouve tellement de plaisir à concevoir et à créer des sacs d’armes, que ce soit pour Jo, bokken, Tanto, katana, bo, clips de pistolet, pack de chasse, tir à l’arc, couteaux, etc. Je me surprends à penser aux ancêtres, à l’histoire et à la tradition dans l’art de stocker des objets d’une telle importance pour la survie.
About 25 years ago, Allearthlings was born along side my eldest child.
Organics, cloth diapers and well made patchwork clothing were not readily available at that time, so I decided to make these items for our growing family. My first patchwork skirt made is as soft and comfortable as ever & over 24 years old!
We've traveled many times all over the USA ... selling our goods at festivals, concerts & shops along the way! And had the opportunity to travel abroad on many occasions, finding inspiration abound.
Knitting became a part of Allearthlings in 2009 on a cross country adventure, leaving me without my studio and machines, but the need of creating and bidding my time. The "Traveling Hats" line was created over a 6 month period, with great success of keeping our family and friends heads toasty warm!
I come from a long line of designers and seamstresses, personally being taught by my Mom, Aunts and Grandmothers.
With their encouragement and skills, Savannah College of Art and Design was my place of formal education and refinement in utilitarianism and construction elements, textile understanding and color theory applications.
The years have flown by, all the while Allearthlings has been a consistent place of Zen for me... my form of meditation and peace... my warm nest of textiles, gentle hums of machines and self expression. Ever changing and transforming myself as time passes and inspiration changes.
As a lifelong lover of martial arts films, a former accomplished Martial Artist, current yogi & my Son a former Aikidoist,
I have become enthralled with Weapons Bags!
After years of trying to find my "thing" I find so much enjoyment designing & creating weapons bags, whether for Jo, bokken, Tanto, katana, bo, gun clips, hunting pack, archery, knives, etc.... I find myself thinking of ancestors, of history & tradition in the craft of storing objects of such importance to survival.
