IN ITS PLACE

A Collection of Paintings by Amy Hood

As an object, as a thing, as a body— as a woman, what does it mean to occupy space? In the home, in private, in public, and in the gallery. Through a colourful, repetitious framework I collect these questions and stories often silenced.

I chronicle the familiar, the ordinary, the useful, and the beautiful in everyday life. The paintings collectively form to illustrate the gendered history housed within. The objects are intimate, uncovered, on display — to capture their presence in time— and space.
