Our small trays are handmade in Vancouver from used coffee grounds collected from local coffee shops. They are one-of-a-kind, sustainable and even smell like a freshly brewed cup of coffee with a hint of Vanilla. They will look amazing in your home to hold your jewellery, keys or any small items and they also make a memorable gift for the coffee enthusiast in your life.
Each coaster is composed of over 50% used coffee grounds, this makes them lightweight and gives them a beautiful texture. The black colour (small specks of brown if you look closely) is natural, and no dyes or additives were used aside from coffee grounds, resin and coffee oil. Our trays upcycle used coffee grounds and give them a second value-added application.

Story:
The idea for these products originated from my own love for coffee and observation of just how many coffee grounds I would go through and dispose of on a daily basis. I started to brainstorm on how I could use this otherwise wasted material in an innovative application to make something beautiful, and this is how the concept for GroundsUp was created!

Such an interesting concept with using recycled coffee grounds for these coasters. These are, by far, my favorite purchase in a long time! Primarily black unless you shine them in a very bright light, then you can see the specs of brown coffee grounds, and they have such a cool texture. Customer service and shipping was quick and great as well!
