These two blackwork samplers are inspired by medieval Egyptian textile fragments (10th-15th century) from the collection of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, UK. A single PDF includes both sampler patterns. Each pattern could be stitched as a whole, or separate components could be worked individually for smaller projects. There are no fractional stitches, and the designs can be embroidered on aida or evenweave/linen using any threads or colors that you like.
Band Sampler stitch count: 149 wide x 213 high.
Approximate size: 10⅔ x 15¼ inches on 28-count evenweave (over 2) or 14-count aida.
Square Sampler stitch count: 161 wide x 161 high.
Approximate size: 11½ x 11½ inches on 28-count evenweave (over 2) or 14-count aida.
This is a PDF file of an embroidery pattern, not a finished product. Once payment has been made, you will be sent a link via Etsy that will lead you to a downloadable PDF. Cliffside Stitches PDFs include an explanation of the historical/cultural background of the design, clear charts, suggested DMC floss colors, tips for using the design to create smaller projects, and photos of finished models.
