There are few animals in the world that grab and hold the fantasy part of the mind. There is something otherworldly about the seahorse. Its 'now-you-see-it, now-you-don't' coloring is as varied as anything you might find in the ocean. Its jerky, swaying way of moving through the water makes it familiar and alien all at once; their delicate look gives them friendly personality but the more you learn about them, the stranger they seem. I especially like the transition of the gender roles that we are most familiar with. This artwork is great for a child's room or playful area of the house. Among many others, I used mulberry silk papers and heavyweight Tibetan earth and spice papers in this piece.
This paper mosaic piece is entirely handmade, including the frame. This is an original process creating the visual effect of tile mosaic using various handmade, recycled and acid-free crafting papers and acrylic gel. The glass-like, glossy finish is easy to keep clean and can be safely dusted or wiped with a damp cloth. The frame has multiple coats of paint and varathane to ensure a solid finish. Smaller pieces are mounted with a wire hanger and larger pieces are secured for hanging using mounted D-rings. Although it looks like tile mosaic it is very light, easy to hang and offers no worries about transport.
