Amethyst Wisps Vase, Hand Blown Borosilicate Glass Bud Vase
2.9" tall, 1.75" vase diameter

A light amethyst blue transparent vase, with wisps of purple, cream, and sparkly blue rising from the base. The lip is wrapped with more creamy blue and purple, swirled into spirals, and the legs are more of the transparent amethyst.

My bud vases start with a tube of clear glass over which I layer the colors that I use. After melting these in smooth and doing an initial shaping, I add design elements - flames, dots, leaves, swirls - and then melt these in smooth. I then use my breath and gravity to blow out and shape the vase. At this point I add simple legs. Finally, I remove the top from the blow tube and flare it open, sometimes adding a wrap of lip color and glass ribbons or spirals for visual appeal, and then it is ready for the annealing kiln.

Mapleseed Crafts Art Glass is handmade in Oakland, CA by Rowan Littell. Most pieces are signed and dated with a titanium pen as “JTL.” I anneal all glass pieces in a digitally controlled glass kiln. Glass is inert, easily cleaned, and small smudges or fingerprints can be wiped down with a microfiber cloth, however do be careful while handling small elements such as tendrils, stems, or legs.
