This Rook is a very cool mid-century modern plaque, made by Beverly Hills' Vanguard Studios from vanathane plastic and hand painted. Hang on the wall, stand up on a shelf or table or use as part of an oversize chess set!

Vanguard was set up in the 1960s by Lee Reynolds Burr and his brother Stuart with the goal of making "real" oil paintings affordable and accessible to the general public. The studio operated on an assembly line, with artists specializing in different stages of the painting process, including painting backgrounds, silk-screening designs, and adding details. In the 1970s, The company became known for producing unique and often quirky 3D wall art.

Very good vintage condition with some chips and scratches
