Description

This is Toronto, Ontario, in 1876, originally drawn by the Toronto artist Peter Alfred Gross. This is the only map Gross drew, and I can understand why—it's by far the most detailed of all the Canadian maps I've come across. I suspect making it was much more a labour of love than a commercial endeavour. It's a northwest view from Lake Ontario, with an incredible 124 individual vignettes. At left the map is bordered by the since-burried Garrison Creek, and at right we see the untamed Don River.

A reproduction printed via Epson Stylus Pro 3880 at 22x15" on Epson Ultra Premium 192 GSM Enhanced Matte paper. Dimensions include a 1.5" margin. This print is archival.
