  • Vintage from the 1970s
  • Materials: bisque porcelain

This vintage Christmas decoration is an adorable little pig dressed as a toy soldier.

The little big that is dressed as a toy soldier sits on top of the bell. He wears a red hat with a black brim, yellow band & blue feather on his head. A red jacket with white cuffs and black cross completes his soldier outfit. The bell he sits upon is sand-colored bisque that has a white lattice design around the bottom that is outlined with 2 red bands.

A ceramic clapper is tied in the bell with gold cording. The bell has a very nice ring.

This bisque porcelain bell measures 4 3/4" (12.1 cm) tall. It is 2 5/8” (6.7 cm) across the base of the bell.

He is ca. 1970 and for her age is in excellent condition. I didn’t find any cracks, chips, repairs, or signs of crazing. There are some scuff marks on the back of the bell.

I believe this bell to be a Jasco Merri-Bell though it is unmarked & I haven’t found it in research (yet!).

We have quite a few Christmas/holiday bells listed at 4Get-Me-Not Treasures that can be seen here: or by browsing through our Holiday Home section here: . Other bells can be found by browsing through the Collectibles section of the shop here:§ion_id=6512425

Dee packaged this item like it was worth a million dollars. She even thanked the postal workers on the outside of the package & wrote fragile on every angle. I took a chance on this old item. I opened it & literally cried. All my childhood memories of listening to this item came pouring into my heart. I never thought I’d see it again. It’s the exact music box I had in the mid 7Os and it actually works. Thank you Dee for taking such good care of this item & for packing it so well. I loved the personalized note also. I’m in tears writing this. Your shop has the perfect title. This is truly a treasure to me. ❤️

My bubbie made the knickers and the vest for me in 1971 on her 1928 Singer 101, on which I learned to sew at age six. I inherited and still use that machine (and had it re-wired in 2018 to ready it for the next 90 years) and have placed this pattern (and my bubbie's picture) next to it.
