About this item
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to build your own programmable lightsaber with Arduino.
You can build components. This project is an ambitious DIY project that draws on technical expertise.
It is aimed at interested hobbyists and technology enthusiasts. It requires the use of various tools.
electronic components and tools.
Please note that the project may have minor quirks ("flaws") – this is inherent to DIY projects. Anyone who enjoys tinkering will definitely get their money's worth. I personally found the construction very enjoyable and learned a lot in the process. A small workshop or at least basic equipment (e.g., soldering iron, screwdrivers, possibly a 3D printer or access to one) is recommended for assembling the lightsaber casing. The instructions focus on the electronics, programming, and wiring – the mechanical construction of the casing is not fully covered but is supported by tips and suggestions. The final design is up to you. You don't need in-depth programming knowledge – basic knowledge of Arduino is sufficient. Please read the safety instructions carefully and be aware that this project involves electricity and should only be undertaken at your own risk.
The pictures show my lightsabers; I'm only selling instructions and the corresponding Arduino code. Building your own lightsaber is up to you. If you build it like I did, your DIY lightsaber will have the following features:
- Individual RGBW color settings and various lighting effects
- Sound & Audio Playback
- Motion detection
The download includes:
- the complete and functional Arduino code
- a circuit diagram for the electronics
- 3D printed models for the lightsaber tip and electronic components
- a short instruction manual with instructions, explanations of how it works and tips for assembly
