"L'dor vador: a collection of poems inspired by other people’s recipes" is the result of a workshop on “Recipe Poetry” held earlier this spring through Carleton University’s English Literature Society, facilitated by shreeking violet proprietess, Marilyn Irwin.
Designed with the enduring and endearing church recipe book format in mind, this collection of recipe poetry inspired by and including (those) recipes includes playful and insightful new work by promising young writers Manahil Bandukwala, Mathew Brule, Jennifer Greenberg, Ian Martin and Abby Simone, with exquisite cover and interior illustrations by Geoffrey Bates.
This is the perfect book for foodies and poetry lovers alike. Fair warning: some recipes are more appetizing than others...
Excerpted from Jennifer Greenberg's "Beet Poetry":

5 out of 5 starsI ordered six broadsides, and this is my favourite. What a delightfully creative take on the form!

Broadside #6: Dog Ear Cento by Cameron AnsteeShaleeta Harper 07 Apr, 2022
An elegant, spare and meditative group of poems that contain diverting juxtapositions. This may be a fresh voice in Canadian poetry but one that is mature enough to give the reader space to come to his or her own conclusions. shreeking violet press's graceful design doesn't hurt it either. Looking forward to what's coming next from Ryan Pratt.

This is such a beautiful selection of broadsides! I was ecstatic to see I received the first edition of one of them (what a treat!). All were very well-made.
