The Self-Employed Finance Center is a 12-tab Excel spreadsheet that computes Canadian self-employed taxes with real 2026 math: federal brackets with the basic personal amount, your province's brackets, and self-employed CPP at 11.9% plus CPP2. It annualizes each quarter's income into CRA instalment estimates with the due dates (March 15, June 15, September 15, December 15) and overdue alerts.

This is for a Canadian freelancer or sole proprietor who needs to calculate instalments and track GST/HST across all provinces.

Self-employed in Canada comes with a second job nobody warned you about: being your own payroll department. No one takes tax off your cheques. You pay both halves of CPP. The CRA wants you to guess your tax bill four times a year: March 15, June 15, September 15, December 15. And charges you interest if you underpay. Cross $30,000 in revenue and you have to register for GST/HST. One great month, two dead ones, a shoebox of receipts. That is the chaos this workbook was built to end.

The Self-Employed Finance Center is a 12-tab command center that runs real 2026 Canadian tax math on your actual numbers. Pick your province or territory from a dropdown on the Dashboard. All 13 are included. And it computes federal tax with the 2026 basic personal amount, your province's 2026 tax brackets, and self-employed CPP (11.9% above the $3,500 exemption, plus CPP2 on earnings above the YMPE). Your annualized quarterly income drives every instalment estimate, with the real CRA instalment dates and overdue alerts, plus a GST/HST registration warning when your revenue crosses $30,000.

And Quebec is fully in. Not the usual "Quebec excluded" footnote. Choose Quebec and the workbook switches to the complete Quebec model: QPP/QPP2 instead of CPP, the QPIP parental insurance premium, the health services fund contribution, the RAMQ drug premium (editable: zero it if you have private coverage), and the 16.5% federal Quebec abatement. Quebec files a separate Revenu Quebec return, and this workbook computes both sides.

A note on the 2026 US tax changes: the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and its 20% QBI pass-through deduction (Section 199A) are US federal law. They don't apply in Canada. This edition models Canadian tax rules only: no US QBI worksheet, no US thresholds. If you file in the US, the US edition is the one for you.

WHAT'S INSIDE (12 connected tabs):
- Start Here: plain-English setup guide, five minutes to working.
- Dashboard: pick your province or territory; net profit, estimated tax + CPP, instalment target, next payment countdown, monthly charts.
- Income Log: every dollar in, tagged by client for T4A matching.
- Invoice Tracker: open/overdue alerts with day counts.
- Expense Log: CRA business categories with 50% meals handling.
- Mileage Log: 2026 CRA rates ($0.73/km for the first 5,000 km, $0.67 after) with monthly rollups.
- Salary Smoother: turn lumpy freelance income into a steady monthly paycheck; tax set-aside happens first, the smoother bank covers lean months.
- Quarterly Tax Estimator: progressive federal + provincial/territorial + CPP math, annualized per quarter, instalment tracking, combined marginal rate; full Quebec subsystem (QPP/QPP2, QPIP, FSS, RAMQ premium, 16.5% federal abatement) when Quebec is selected.
- Cash-Flow Buffer: how many months your cash covers.
- T4A Checklist: expected vs. logged slip amounts with mismatch flags before filing.
- Preparer Packet: one clean summary page for your accountant, with your provincial tax broken out.
- Settings: every 2026 bracket, BPA, YMPE/YAMPE, and mileage rate is editable.

HOW IT WORKS:
1. Download instantly after purchase.
2. Import the .xlsx into Google Sheets (free) or open in Microsoft Excel, and follow the Start Here guide.
3. Pick your province or territory on the Dashboard, log income and expenses. Everything else calculates.

Compatibility: Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets & LibreOffice. No macros, no XLOOKUP. Tested on the current build: opens cleanly in Excel for the web with headline calculations verified (Sept 2026); recalculates correctly in LibreOffice with matching headline values (Sept 2026). Google Sheets import was fully verified on the pre-rebrand build (Sept 2026: 23/23 values matched, 866 validated input cells verified, both charts carried over); re-verification of the rebranded file is pending.

YOU GET:
- 1 Excel (.xlsx) file. Verified in Excel for the web and LibreOffice (Sept 2026); Google Sheets re-verification pending, no macros.
- Branded Quick-Start Guide (PDF)
- Sample data included so you can see it working (replace it in minutes. Cream cells are yours).

PLEASE NOTE: Planning estimates only. Not tax advice. Jurisdiction-specific credits, surtaxes, and BPA phase-outs are not modeled; the RAMQ drug premium defaults to the public-plan maximum and should be zeroed if you have private drug coverage. This is a digital download; no physical item will be shipped. Due to the nature of digital products, refunds aren't available. But message me with any issue and I'll make it right.

How much should I set aside for quarterly instalments in 2026?
Your annualized quarterly income drives every instalment estimate. Progressive federal plus provincial and CPP math per quarter, with the real CRA instalment dates and overdue alerts, so you see the cost of underpaying before it happens.

Does it handle Quebec?
Fully. Not the usual "Quebec excluded" footnote. Pick Quebec and the workbook switches to the complete Quebec model: QPP and QPP2, the QPIP premium, the health services fund contribution, the RAMQ drug premium (editable), and the 16.5% federal Quebec abatement.

When do I need to register for GST/HST?
Cross $30,000 in revenue and the workbook raises a GST/HST registration warning automatically.

Does the US QBI deduction apply here?
No. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act and its 20% QBI deduction are US federal law. They don't apply in Canada. This edition models Canadian tax rules only.

Is this tax advice?
No. Planning estimates built on real 2026 Canadian tax figures; every bracket, BPA, YMPE/YAMPE, and mileage rate is editable in Settings. Credits, surtaxes, and BPA phase-outs are not modeled.

Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Via File, Import. Verified on the pre-rebrand build (23/23 values matched, 866 input cells verified, both charts carried over). Re-verification of the rebranded file is pending.
