"Perhaps
an old dance
is a lullaby after long silence -
the mist of the Oracle
upon a young world."

- Original Poetry by Jane Kerrison of Small Poetics

Approximately 5” x 5”

I made this artwork using a technique called blackout poetry, a type of found poetry. I start with a piece of underlying text, and from the limited number of words provided, choose some with which to form a new piece of original poetry.

Rather than black out the rest of the page, I showcase the general shape of the text below, to pay homage to the original verse and the collaboration of old and new. The base text for this piece is poetry by William Butler Yeats.

The background is Irish Breakfast tea painted on watercolour paper.

Frame not included. (If you'd like to purchase the frame, please contact me for a quote)

* Copyright remains with Jane Kerrison.

The perfect creative gift for teachers, book lovers, poets, artists, dancers and more!
