Description

This is fine quality Labradorite set as a pendant with a double bezel and hinged bale in solid sterling silver.

The stone alone measures 36 mm long x 34 mm wide. The bale has a minimum internal diameter of 5 mm and is 10 mm in length.
Weight: 24.5 grams.
Entire Pendant Size: 52 x 37 mm.

Notes:
This is an electric blue labradorite with a clean, silky smooth fire.
This stone has a internal fracture near the top left corner, although stable and safe is its only recognizable fault. The fire is not affected by this. Love the shape and size.

This Labradorite is part of a collection that I recently hand selected in India on a stone buying trip in March 2016. The entire face of the stone lights up with a strong and unobstructed chatoyancy. These represent some of the very best in Labradorite. The quality does not come any better than this.

Source material is from Madagascar.
All photos were taken outdoors in natural light and at least one photo in indirect light to show changes in color and fire intensity.

About Labradorite

The name Labradorite is derived from Labrador which is the main and original source of the Canadian variety of this feldspar stone. Labradorite is also found in India, Madagascar, Newfoundland, and Russia. Its first documented discovery was on St. Paul island, Labrador, Canada in 1770.
Labradorite's floating light that appears to emanate from within is known as "adularescence" also called "fire" and "labradoresence". It is caused by structural anomalies within the stone, which refract or scatter incoming light. The size or thickness of these anomalies determines the color of the floating light.

Metaphysical and Folklore

Lore of the Inuit peoples claim Labradorite fell from the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis, an ordinary stone that transforms to the extraordinary, shimmering in a mystical light that separates the waking world from unseen realms. It is, in every sense, a Stone of Magic, a crystal of shamans, diviners, healers, and all who travel and embrace the universe seeking knowledge and guidance. For self-discovery, it is excellent for awakening one's own awareness of inner spirit, intuition and psychic abilities.

Labradorite is also the most powerful protector of the mineral kingdom, creating a shielding force throughout the aura and strengthening natural energies from within. It protects against the negativity and misfortunes of this world, and provides safe exploration into alternate levels of consciousness and in facilitating visionary experiences from the past or the future. [Ahsian, 226]

Care notes:
The pendants are built to withstand everyday wear. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or corrosive chemicals to clean natural stones. An infrequent buff with a silver polishing is the best way to clean the silver and stone.

FAQs

Unfortunately I'm unable to accept custom orders or resizing requests at this time.
The best way to keep silver looking bright is to use a dry silver polishing cloth. This not only eliminates cleanup of wet polishing compounds but also ensures that your stone does not become damaged in the process. Never use ultrasonic cleaners on natural stones.
Unfortunately I cannot offer to resize rings. Close fitting sizes can usually be refit inexpensively with a local jeweler in your area.
Our orders are sent discrete and with enough protection to keep it safe in its journey without adding unnecessary costs to shipping.
We are happy to include a personalized note in your order although gift wrapping is not available.
Due to the nature of my competitive pricing structure, wholesale is not available although I'd be open to hearing your proposal.
Please see this chart to convert my listed sizes to other international measurements. http://www.ringsizes.co
Please make sure that the delivery address is correct before making a purchase.
If you noticed a mistake in your address before the package has been sent, please contact me immediately to have it changed. Changes cannot be made after this and I cannot be responsible for undelivered packages due to an incorrectly provided address.
Usually items which are undelivered will be returned to me although this is not always reliable or timely.
Items returned to me may be refunded minus shipping costs or resent to the correct address after shipping costs are repaid.
