Description

This is a gem grade quality Rainbow Moonstone hand bezel set in solid sterling silver.

This is a simple design that keeps the focus on the stone. The band is rounded on the outside and flat on the inside, 1.5 mm thick and 4 mm wide. The stone is set very low to keep a smooth transition on the finger.
The ring is a USA size 7.5

The moonstone alone measures 17 x 13 mm.

All photos were taken outdoors in natural light.

The fire of this stone is visible even in very low light conditions.
This is a natural stone without dyes or treatment.

This is some of the best moonstone with a full and centered face of super strong fire! There is no comparison to the milky white grade of Moonstone. This quality comes in less than 1% from the total of all mined moonstone and often is collected before arriving to open gemstone markets.

Moonstone is often in my top recommendations. If you're looking for a really special piece of Moonstone or simply want a "safe bet" to give as a gift, this stone will be the new favorite.

Acquiring the stone:

Recently, I traveled to India specifically to purchase top quality Rainbow Moonstone direct from its source.
I spent several weeks hunting for the most beautiful pieces (mostly within private collections). Dozens of independent cutters and collectors were visited to acquire this quality and an enormous amount of negotiation time was spent that often lasted days per transaction. Many of the dealings were in back alley ways and slums with cows and pigs roaming freely while a very few were in well established businesses places over a cup of chai tea and unmatched Indian hospitality. My bartering skills and knowledge was put to the tests in all situations in only a way you could imagine is possible in India. In the end we always felt very happy with our transactions and new business relationship.
I have been hunting and buying moonstone for over 20 years at the worlds largest gem and mineral shows. Some years I left feeling lucky while others I had to make due with my finds. Only once did I find what I really wanted but sadly, someone else saw them and bought it all just before me. I soon realized that I needed to go directly to the source if I wished to have this quality in my collection.

Moonstone
Rainbow Moonstone belongs to the large mineral family of feldspars. Rainbow moonstone is typically milky white with a rainbow colored sheen. Moonstone is the most valuable form of feldspar and is composed of albite, which gives it the bluish sheen.
Moonstone's floating light that appears to emanate from within is known as "adularescence" also called "fire" and "chatoyancy". It is caused by structural anomalies within the stone, which refract or scatter incoming light. The size or thickness of these anomalies determines the color of the floating light.
Blue moonstones can only be mined in Bihar, central India, as its only source worldwide.
This stone is highly regarded in India where it said to help balance and master emotions and enhance intuition.

Care Suggestions
Moonstone is a relatively durable stone that will resist most abrasion but also a stone that has vulnerable natural inclusions. For this reason, ultrasonic cleaning machines should be avoided.
Your ring is safe to wear in water and most anyplace your hand may take you, however, I suggest not to wear your ring while doing physical work to reduce the chance of incident. A dry silver polishing cloth is the easiest and safest way to brighten your silver.

FAQs

Unfortunately I'm unable to accept custom orders or resizing requests at this time.
The best way to keep silver looking bright is to use a dry silver polishing cloth. This not only eliminates cleanup of wet polishing compounds but also ensures that your stone does not become damaged in the process. Never use ultrasonic cleaners on natural stones.
Unfortunately I cannot offer to resize rings. Close fitting sizes can usually be refit inexpensively with a local jeweler in your area.
Our orders are sent discrete and with enough protection to keep it safe in its journey without adding unnecessary costs to shipping.
We are happy to include a personalized note in your order although gift wrapping is not available.
Due to the nature of my competitive pricing structure, wholesale is not available although I'd be open to hearing your proposal.
Please see this chart to convert my listed sizes to other international measurements. http://www.ringsizes.co
Please make sure that the delivery address is correct before making a purchase.
If you noticed a mistake in your address before the package has been sent, please contact me immediately to have it changed. Changes cannot be made after this and I cannot be responsible for undelivered packages due to an incorrectly provided address.
Usually items which are undelivered will be returned to me although this is not always reliable or timely.
Items returned to me may be refunded minus shipping costs or resent to the correct address after shipping costs are repaid.
