Original design concept created for the 50th Anniversary of Sir Wally Herbert's Arctic Ocean crossing. This design was created with the help of Dr. Huw Lewis-Jones, and his wife Kari Herbert, daughter of Sir Wally Herbert.
In February 1968, with three others, Wally set out on the British Trans-Arctic Expedition, the first surface crossing of the Arctic Ocean – a surface as unstable and unsafe as anywhere on Earth. There would not be a day when the floes on which they travelled or slept on, were not drifting in response to currents and winds. On 6 April 1969, they finally reached the North Pole.

Two months later, Wally and his team completed their journey, some 3,720 route miles in all.

Lotta care went into packaging to get it delivered safe and sound. I have a photo of this same sign i shot while trekking to EBC so the sign holds special meaning. Well made product and legit in every way!

I love this piece! I keep it on the wall to remind myself that Shackleton survived because he recruited the right people.

I see this as a beautiful representation of the Scott Expedition. You are very talented and should be proud! Ron
