IT WILL HURT FOR A WHILE BUT IN THE END YOU'LL BE OK is a collection of poems written by Julia Mroczek, published and handmade with Furrawn Press.

Julia Mroczek is an internet poet living in Toronto. Julia graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Engineering and now spends her time writing about feelings. Julia's first book of poems brings together banter about love in the digital age. Julia is influenced by Twitter users such as Darcie Wilder, horse ebooks, and dril, using the absurdist shortform style to illustrate the most intimate matters of the heart.

This book was initially launched at the Furrawn Press Shed Residency in 2017, a week-long, studio-based, backyard residency in Little Italy, coinciding with the Toronto Art Book Fair and Art Book Week.

You can find poems like these in the book:

this is my reading dress
‘but you never read’
it’s not like scanning a hundred pages
in one sitting, yet
your eyes following the folds of my cloth
accidental smiles encroaching sombre moments
perceiving your impartiality and
serving a new song for your interest
reads more than ten thousand words
on three hundred pages
about something that doesn’t matter
save for in the author’s mind

you may be right in that
I don’t read many blocks of text
but reading your foibles is better for my eyes
heeding your voice makes me more vigilant
touching your skin more pleasant than paper
I don’t read words made into stories by others
I’d much rather write them myself
even if the ones forthcoming
are fictional projections of you

personal library, 1/12/17

:~)
thinking about u
fucking other boys but
thinking about u

Texts i didnt send but might later 1/17/17

Hana natural foods
there’s not quite anything like
searing fluorescence illuming skinny aisles
gilded chrome finishes around a hundred kombuchas
ambient sizzle promising magic in your next sandwich
holding your insides after picking through poisons
vegan egg salad is definitely a thing,
and you better be grateful
because it's 4am
and you've already puked
and nothing else is open

Like a fun-sized whole foods but they sell cigarettes 2/7/17

I miss you most
when i’m one beer in
because i know you’d be fine
to not have another
and rather go home to drink
from the spring between my thighs

Social obligation 2/17/17
