This sumptuously soft yarn is hand dyed in shades of pink, magenta and olive green. The yak content lends a beautiful dark heathered tone to the finished yarn, giving it a gorgeous depth of shade. With an exquisite hand and soft shimmering drape, this is a great choice for a cuddly soft cowl or other next-to-skin item.

Merino sheep are hardy and thrive in environments which are much too harsh for other domesticated sheep breeds. They are well suited to the high altitudes and mountainous landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island high country, where temperatures can range from 35°C in summer to -15°C in winter. Merino is a breed of sheep famous for its fine, soft wool, and is the "gold standard" to which all other fibers are compared.

Yaks originated in the high Tibetan plateau, and were first brought to Mongolia by Buddhist monks who used them for transport on their pilgrimages. Mongolian yak down is a rare and unique natural fiber. Exotic and soft, yak fiber is warmer than Merino wool, breathable, and naturally water resistant. Have I mentioned how incredibly soft it is? :)
