This beautiful set is a luscious combo of Merino and Tussah silk plied with a sparkly blue lurex thread. One ply is a commercially dyed Merino, one ply is a Merino/Silk blend, and I've plied them together with a lurex thread for some extra sparkle. The result is a dark midnight blue marled-looking yarn that shimmers and sparkles with movement. This pair would be stunning as a shawl, and there's plenty of yardage for it. Or, use it for another special project you've been dreaming about!

Merino sheep are hardy and thrive in environments which are much too harsh for other domesticated sheep breeds. They are well suited to the high altitudes and mountainous landscapes of New Zealand’s South Island high country, where temperatures can range from 35°C in summer to -15°C in winter. Merino is a breed of sheep famous for its fine, soft wool, and is the "gold standard" to which all other fibers are compared.

This listing is for two skeins of DK weight yarn as shown, measuring a total of 526 yards.

Blend contains:
85% Merino
15% Tussah silk

Skein #1
306 yds
3.9 oz
12-14 wpi

Skein #2
220 yds
3.4 oz
12-14 wpi

This yarn was spun on my Lendrum ST wheel in a smoke free, pet friendly environment.

This yarn will felt, so if that's not your intention, be sure to handwash your finished garment gently in cool water and lay flat to dry.

If you would like it in a center pull ball, please let me know during checkout.
