Pacific centered equal area world map that is accurate, very detailed and high quality!

Did you know that traditional maps distort the size of continents? Greenland appears to be almost as big as Africa, when in fact is only 1/14th as large!

This World Map is an equal projection which means continents appear true to size, similar to the Peters Map or Gall Peters Projection. The map is 24" x 48" and incredibly detailed. It is a Pacific-Centered map, meaning the map is centered over the Pacific (150E) to present an alternative view of the world. The map is printed on high quality, thick photo paper.

** What is an equal area map and why does it matter?**

Traditional maps ("Mercator maps") distort the size of continents - Africa and South America are much smaller than they are, while Greenland, Antarctica and Europe are much larger. This equal area projection displays continents in their correct sizes and is a more accurate representation of the world.

** Is this a Pacific-Centered map? **
Yes! The map's central meridian is at 150° E

** How is this map made? **
Each map is made to order. It is printed on thick, satin-finish photo paper (235 gsm) with a microporous surface that maximizes ink absorption. All printing is done in our workshop outside of Boston, MA.

** How do you ship? ***
Domestic US shipments are sent via USPS Priority Mail. International shipments are sent via International First Class Mail. Maps are carefully packaged in durable poster rolls to prevent damage in transit.

** How can I display it? **
Lots of ways! You can mount it directly to a wall using adhesive on the back of the map. Other clients have had their maps framed or mounted on foam board to create a push-pin "family travels" map.

** How does this compare to the Peters Map or a Gall-Peters Map?
All these maps show continents truer to their actual size. However, the Peters and Gall-Peters Maps distort the shape of some continents. This equal area map was designed in 2018 by a team of US scientists to address some of the shape distortion issues present in the Peters and Gall-Peters maps.
