Bright Press blossomed in June 2019 and is formerly Whiteman Park Print Shop.
As a child, I was forever spending my pocket money on pretty pens, papers and cards. And it was through my stationery obsession that I was introduced to letterpress printing from art and design blogs. I was captivated by its rich history and how it had a huge impact on modern civilisation, the manual process for creating print, and the distinct appeal letterpress produced.
I began my hands-on letterpress printing experience in 2011 under the tutelage of Phil Everitt the owner of Whiteman Park Print Shop for 31 years and who has had over 50 years of printing experience. When he announced that he was retiring, I jumped at the chance to continue being an ambassador for the craft.
Under the new name of Bright Press, we are passionate about the history of printing, and specialises in the traditional craft of letterpress printing. We are a unique and independent Western Australian small business with a large collection of working vintage printing presses and equipment.
Our mission is to help spread the love of letterpress printing and to keep the craft, the stories and the printing presses alive.
We are a working museum, allowing visitors that come in to our shop to observe the printing process. Our machines include a 1953 Heidelberg Platen Press, a late 1920s Chandler & Price, a Heidelberg Cylinder Press, a Heidelberg KORD offset press, a Linotype typecaster, two Ludlow typecasters, and a quad crown (30”x40”) Miehle which we affectionately nicknamed ‘The Dinosaur’.
We produce a range of lovingly letterpress printed paper products, and are passionate about collaborating with local artists, designers, businesses, and the general public. We welcome custom projects such as wedding invitations, business cards, art prints, tags, personalised stationery, etc.
If you have a custom project in mind or are interested in stocking our paper products in your store, please contact email hello [!at] brightpress.com.au
